World War Two era historical fiction is hit and miss. This one was an interesting tale and to be honest one I couldn't put down. Overall an easy read and it offered some interesting new additions to my want-to-read pile.

I enjoyed this fictional look into the female radio operators/resistance fighters. I now want to read the nonfiction accounts.

This book follows the narrative of three women.
Eleanor the commander of a covert mission during the war.
Marie, one of Eleanor's operatives
and Grace, a woman post war who stumbles across some information that leads to questions she wants answers to.

Inspired by true events, this was a fascinating book.
War time books are generally a hit or miss for me, as they can so easily go sideways. But the writing did this story justice.
We know that women were used as underground radio operators in Nazi occupied Europe, and this puts names and stories to these unknown women.

This book has received all kinds of awards. I had to wait weeks to get it from the library. I'm sure a lot of research has gone into the book. However, I found the story rather weak.

Maybe I missed it, but what was Marie's cover story? A young girl living alone in an apartment during WW II? Mysterious men coming to her apartment for drop-offs. How is she making a living? Not at all

It never occurred to Elenor that if a radio was taken that they could spy on the Germans and give them false information.

I'm giving this a book a one. While I liked the story plot and characters it seemed really slow and hard to get through.

I listened to the audio book of this. Good story, but at times it really dragged. The time line jumped around, which I really enjoyed. But, towards the end, the actions of the main heroines got very implausible. A couple of times I laughed out loud at something that should not have been funny. It was still a good read, but romance portion could have been written better.
