- Beautiful writing
Adelaide is the all too relatable story about a 20-something giving her all in a relationship with someone who just can't reciprocate. This is definitely NOT a love story, but rather a story of Adelaide learning to pick herself up and how to love herself after losing herself in a relationship that isn't good for her. ❤️🩹
It can be frustrating watching a character go back to something that isn't good for them over and over again but that's real life. 🤷 I loved how this book was structured, we start off with Adelaide in the present at rock bottom, work our way back in time to see how she got there, and then move on to her recovery. 📈 (Definitely search up trigger warnings if you need to!)
I picked So Long, London because this book takes place in London, England but there are so many other Taylor songs that fit Adelaide and Rory!
It is a bit of a slower paced, character focused read so if that's not your thing, it may not be for you. That being said, I will eat that up every time and this was such an inspiring story, I couldn't put it down. I'm not sure if it's one I will reread but I did really like and think many people will relate to Adelaide and her journey.

Entered the last year of my 20s reading this and reflecting on the last decade, simultaneously wanting to slap Adelaide and give her a hug. This is one of the most stunning (and painful) debut novels I’ve ever read, and I can’t wait for Genevieve Wheeler’s next book. Except that I can wait because I need 4-6 weeks to recover.
Moderate: Emotional abuse, Mental illness, Sexual assault, Suicidal thoughts, Toxic relationship, and Suicide attempt
