Irene really does have a talent for getting herself into and then successfully navigating herself out of sticky political situations ...

I'd do like... 4.25 stars.
As always, I'm glad that I stuck through the first novel to get into the meat of things. The Lost Plot was no different. The wait was torture, and then I didn't even savor it when my library hold came in. Irene and Kai are back causing lots of shenanigans, and it's a good time all around. The "what a twist" moment at the end was as shocking as something... not at all shocking... I was trying to come up with a funny quip, but it didn't happen.
I love Kai.
I love Irene.
This novel was good.
This series is great.

It's all good

Two-day read. It's true that I was splashed on the beach with nothing else to do than laying in the sun and reading, but I also feel that this series is getting better and better as it moves on with the action. In this one, Irene and Kai get involved in a political conflict between two dragons and it cannot be easy peasy, of course. For me, this book being placed in the 1920s, one of my favourite decades, is a certain plus, though I'm not entirely into gangs and mafia action. But getting out of Victorian London is always a plus in my book.

The action and thrill are getting more intense, as well as the dive into dragon mythology. I'm less happy about the arc regarding Irene's parents, which was apparently abandoned after the author gave us a bone, so to say, in the third novel of the series. I hope it will be revisited in the last volume, as I feel the need of a little bit more detail about the Library history and Irene's own history.

I don't care about the romantic elements in this book (and in the previous one as well), mostly because it feels forced. It's like the author wants to push some romance, but has no idea what to do with it so she just tests the waters to see what works. But the issue is that nothing she has tried really works and either part of this love triangle feels forced and honestly completely unnecessary, given the amount of action that is entertaining on its own. Vale's absence from this one was a plus, though. I don't really care about someone who is just another Sherlock Holmes.

I have already started on the last volume and I really hope this series ends with a bang.

Another barn storming, barmily brilliant escape for Irene and Kai with a Dragon focus for the first time.

Turns out they're just as nasty as Fae!

I waited 4 books for that kiss!

Because of the dragon affairs this is my favorite book yet.

This series gives me such mixed feelings. How can I like something and despise most of it at the same time?

This was the least exciting book in the series for me. With the lack of magic in the world it was hard to get I to it, and I didn’t particularly care about the plot. The first half was quite a slog, but I enjoyed the action at the end!
