As with other book written by Ilsa Madden-Mills, this book is suck you right in, cannot put it down, and hot steamy good! Unlike her other books, this is a college age book, and mostly takes place around the life of college students. This book is very Pride and Prejudice ‘like’.
The heroin is from the wrong side of the tracks and has a let’s say horrid life that she is picking herself up from and doing a damn good job. With everything including her own mother going against her, Elizabeth Bennett, I trying to put a very bad experience behind her. Her worst fears come back to haunt her, when her Mr. Darcy saves the day.
Declan is the HOT Brit with the muscles and accent that will melt the panties off every co-ed on campus. Wait, he already did that! He is also the best underground fighter, which, is something that Elizabeth is not too pleased to find out. But when those fighting skills are used to save the day, what can she say!!
The characters are strong and developed and the story is amazing. I was hooked from the first paragraph. This is a standalone book, but I really wish that Ilsa would turn it into a series just so we can find out more of the other characters. I want to know more about Dax, Declan’s twin brother.

2.5 stars for me. I feel I’m one of the few who did not care too much for this book.
REASONS I LIKED IT:
• Hot Fighter with a British accent who’s a twin
REASONS I DIDN’T:
• Over use of the British accent/ terms. The twins came to America when they were 10! They’ve lived more than half of their life here. They would NOT still use words like “knobbead, wanker and bollocks. We know they’re British... there’s no need to overuse word pronunciations to get the point across
• The main character, Elizabeth. She was too much of a cry baby and annoying. You don’t go to frat parties because you were raped 2 years ago. Completely understandable but yet when you do finally go to a frat party, you try and have sex with some guy? That’s against your rules? Then you stalk said guy you’ve known for all of twenty minutes?
• The main character, Elizabeth. She tried to put on a tough act and flirt or pick up guys, but it came off as uncomfortable and lame.
• The almost love at first sight. It’s not my thing. I need more build up.
• The reasons why the H/h should stay away from each other. Really? It was very corny and unbelievable.
• The hot, mean fighter opens his heart to you after ONE night of sex only to get his heart broken by the boring girl
The “Didn’t” column was much greater than the “Did”. And I feel I could keep added to the list. I finished the book, I actually did, and it wasn’t BAD per se, it was just very mediocre and unbelievable. Yes, I know it’s fiction, but still...

More like 2.5 stars. The characters just weren't believable enough for me, and the whole thing felt a little rushed. The story line with Blake was a thing and then all of a sudden it wasn't. The Colby story line was obvious and predictable. Elizabeth was rather forgettable as a main character. I also feel like she tried too hard to make Declan and Dax seem SUPER ENGLISH OMG. If they moved to NC when they were 10...they would have mostly grown up with American slang and such. I don't know, maybe I'm judging too harshly because it did entertain me enough to finish it, but I think it was mostly to see if I was right about how predictable it seems. Meh.

OMG I loved this book!! Declan.....Swoon! I love Declan and Elizabeth's connection and how he protects her. I also love how he wasn't willing to play games and stood firm on "If you want to be with me then lets be together but you're not going to mess with my head." Major points!! I hate when some characters have studied reasons keeping them apart that make no sense or are acting stupid but Declan knew what he wanted and wouldn't settle for less. Great book!

4 stars. Borrowed via KU.
This was my second IMM book and like Boyfriend Bargain, it started a little slowly but picked up. Elizabeth & Declan are both college students. Elizabeth was raped in high school (for those who might be triggered by this, it was a roofie situation and while the act itself isn’t detailed the immediate aftermath was).
Elizabeth has determined she won’t fall in love again, won’t date, and only has one-night stands. Declan, while originally/superficially comes off as a “bad boy”, is intelligent, perceptive, caring, responsible and protective.
Other reviews mentioned it was difficult to “connect” with Elizabeth ~ and maybe it wasn’t the author’s intent, but I sort of felt like it was the point. A realistic one at that. Her reactions & choices in response to being raped were normal. Maybe not healthy, but consistent with many victims.
There’s a lot going on in this story, but I really appreciated that it wasn’t the one-dimensional fluff that some NA books can be.
I’m looking forward to Dax’s book.
