A solid start to the Halloween reading season, fun and lighthearted with the perfect amount of halloweeniness. That said, I do feel like we lost a plot a bit in the middle and the end felt really rushed. Also, the formatting was really weird?? Particularly with dialog. Just the way paragraphs were or weren’t broken up made it difficult to follow conversations sometimes.

I don’t really have any words. Not in a bad way! Kinda? Just… the pacing was confusing, like I was surprised I was making it through the book so fast. I feel like nothing really happened? Okay we have a curse but now we are in lala love land not taking shit serious, and then boom problem solved everyone’s in love the end. I feel like it was kind of lackluster plot wise. Happy for Rhys and Vivi though? I don’t think I’d read the rest of the series. I guess I was expecting it to be fleshed out more and I didn’t get that, and there was no conflict or development really for Vivi and Rhys so…

This was fun! I wish there had been a little more magic involved for a book about witches, but I loved the vibe and the banter and the Autumn-ness that this book exudes.

I cannot tell if this is well written or not since I am not a romance reader. As someone new to the romance genre, I would say it is very approachable and very funny.

I really enjoyed the characters, but I felt like there was a lot to the way the magic worked/functioned that wasn’t explained or explored. The pacing seemed a little off to me - we were 75% through the book before the main problem was fully understood, and then the solution seemed rushed both in execution and explanation. Because I knew there was a second book, I was less frustrated with the chapter wrapping it up at the end, but it also didn’t feel like it was paced well.

This was such a cute and comical autumn read. I read this in just a matter of days because I couldn't put it down. Probably a go-to fall read from now on. Reminded me of the Halloweentown franchise!
