Beyond brilliant. One of the most important books I've read this year. I was going to recommend it as a must-read for all women (young and old) and the people who love them. And I do. But this book isn't merely (merely?) a book about female sexuality that debunks myths held tightly by both the educated and ignorant, it shifts paradigms that affect all aspects of human psychology.

Interesting, worth reading, but I hate when books for women with research are cutesy. For realsie reals, I can handle real science and don’t need to be talked down to. I promise.

This book was fantastic! Anyone who wants to have a healthy sexual life should give this book a read (or listen. The audiobook is wonderful!). You will learn new things, and find validation, no matter your sex, gender expression, or sexual identity. But especially if you are a woman. Go forth and get your freak on!

This book should be a requirement for everyone that is or has a woman in their life. So empowering, so motivating, and some great bits about having some amazing sex. You are normal.

I found this book insightful and thought provoking in so many ways. For anyone born with a vulva or who is in a relationship with a vulva owner, this will give you a crash course in how how our brains and bodies work together. The science is here to break down toxic misconceptions about cis women's sexuality and sexual functioning, and I found it all riveting. Living in a patriarchy, where "male" is treated as the "default", it's refreshing to see so much of my own lived experiences reflected back to me and validated by scientific research. Much of the meat of the book deals with sex in the context of a committed partnership, so for those readers not currently partnered, some of it might feel less immediately relevant. But I wish I had read this back in my twenties; I think it would have changed much about the sexual experiences of that decade and my current self-understanding and relationship with my body. This book was eye opening in so many ways and really helped me reframe how I thought about a lot of things (and how I feel about how I feel..... oh boy meta emotions, that was interesting!). This will be a book and author I return to again and again. Highly recommend this to anyone one with a vulva who wants to get a deeper understanding of how and why your body and brain work the way they do. It's not always going to be an easy read but it's a good one.

Are you a woman? Or do you know someone who is? Do you have a body or belong to a society? Chances are, you need this book. It's like having a very sweet friend sit with you while you put very old puzzle pieces together and wonder how you couldn't see it before. 10/10 will be re-reading.

A great book! Emily writes in as layman’s terms as possible to explain psychological, emotional and practical suggestions for women to take more control of their sexuality. I did get a bit bogged down near the end of the book but there were several realizations (for example, how desire can be responsive and how your body parts aren’t always on the same page in terms of being turned out). I appreciate the book and will be looking through it again to remind myself of the many ways I am normal and sexy!

Every person with a vagina should read this book. Even if you don’t think you need it, you do. Absolutely excellent - well-written, well-researched, and well-presented. Can’t wait to reread.
