I read this as fast as I read Gone Girl. But the twist in this book just isn't exciting. The characters are barely developed so I just didn't care what happened to them.

Very disappointing. Slow, poorly written and tedious characters. None of them were likeable. Skipped half of the pages and still guessed the outcome. It’s a shame as the idea for the story is a good one.

While I think this book's initial, core storyline could be a success, I just couldn't handle the writing style. The only time I found there was any real detail described was during the multiple rape scenes, and I found myself wanting to reach the end of the book simply to have it done with.

I found the husband and daughter to be very one dimensional and I didn't really sympathize with them, though I tried. Perhaps the storyline simply moves too quickly-months passed within a matter of pages, but the core characters' moods and outlooks on the situation remained stagnant. Nour was completely underdeveloped and, to me, served no purpose except to provide a "gimme" happy ending without much effort on the author's part.

Overall, there are much better thrillers with similar story lines that are a much more challenging, satisfying read.

This quick read is alright for a plane ride or something similar. I found there were several cultural references that went over my head at first (Swedish author). Who knew "hundreds and thousands" were sprinkles?? There was a lot of violence and abuse that was unsettling and disturbing. While I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, I would be interested in hearing what others thought if they read it. I'm surprised this is an International Best Seller.

" 3 stars "
This book was the first book I had ever read at that time I felt like this is easily a 5 stars book . But now when I have read more books I feel like this book was just OK . It was good for sure but I wish it would be better .

In She's Never Coming Back by Hans Koppel, Ylva Zetterberg is a married mother of a small daughter and after telling her husband Michael she may or may not stop off after work for drinks with co-workers, she suddenly disappears. At first, authorities discount the worries of her husband, but after her continued departure, soon, the police and most everyone else believes her husband may have had something to do with her disappearance.

Of course, there is more to the novel and as with typical Swedish writers, the backstory is lengthy and complex, along with the introduction of characters that at first have unclear ties to the main plot.

The novel unfolds through the perspectives of different characters and while it would not reveal all aspects of the book to describe the main plotline, this reader feels it is best to let other readers discover the plot of the novel upon themselves.

The subject matter is harsh and violently graphic.

While the overall novel did not resonate with this reader as much as other crime novels have done so, it possibly will with other readers who enjoy this type of novel.
