Oh no, that was so so so so dumb. Okay, they’d barely bad two whole conversations by 40%, they were in love by 60%, the big drama came at like 97% and they were married and pregnant by the end??? No. This is even worse when you consider that this happened in a span of around a week or two (the engagement, not the wedding). Ugh, it’s so dumb. Not to mention they had absolutely no chemistry. They’d just met each other, he was a dick and apparently hated her, but all that time that could have been spend with them actually getting to know each other was instead spend on them pining and denying with absolutely nothing to back up their reasons to do so.

It also felt like there was a lot of underlying sexism in this. When was Stenton not raging on about that darn woman coming in and ruining things. Just, everything about this felt so cheap and dirty and it just wasn’t great. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because I didn’t absolutely hate it. Yikes.

This was such a sweet romance! I fell in love with Jennifer and Stetson instantly. I usually have a hard time with romances that seem to develop overnight. I'm not a fan of lasting love at first sight, and even though this book takes place over a very short period, it works. The characters spend time getting to know each other instead of just basing their love on lust. Because of that I really enjoyed this story. I felt like I understood each character because there was talking and exploring their backgrounds. I'm excited to continue this series!

MMF gives off strong misogynistic vibes right out the gate and that’s not for me.

Accounting for Love - updated, revised and expanded which results in additional humor, deeper plot development, expanded scenes, change in pace, etc., all of which takes the best aspects of the original story and makes it just that much better!

Stetson is a farmer facing foreclosure and Jennifer is the banking accountant sent to audit his books - which, of course, puts Stetson on the defensive immediately. But there’s an attraction there too...

Both main characters, Stetson and Jennifer, have issues from their past that shape how they view themselves today, which in turn effects their interactions with each other. With the expanded story, we get more in-depth characterization which allows a stronger connection to both characters, identifying more with what each one is feeling. This makes the entire story more satisfying!

The supporting characters provide further strength and depth to the story. I especially enjoyed Carmelita - housekeeper, grandmother figure, not afraid to speak her mind!

And the epilogue is just perfect!

Whether you are just beginning the Long Valley series or you’ve read the original version of Accounting for Love, you will thoroughly enjoy reading this one!

*****Update 2/6/22****
I listened to the audiobook. I had forgotten that I read the ebook years ago. I was surprised to find out that the ebook and the audiobook didn't match. There seemed to be additional content, or the audio book was expanded from the text of the ebook.

I thought the audio version was better. It seemed like the additional detail added to Stetson and Jennifer's romance. It also gave Jennifer more of a backbone then she seemed to have in the ebook.

The audio bumped my rating up to a 4. The narration was decent. For me, I think it would have hit a full 5 stars with the both a male and female narrator.

10/23/19 ebook version
This was ok. I'm not sure how Jennifer continued to be so pleasant to Stetson with his attitude, even if it was her job. I'm not exactly sure how she could hear her completely rude and obnoxious boss.

Everything seemed to happen so fast. I don't have a problem with instalove, but Stetson went from disliking Jennifer to jumping her bones in a matter of days. She was so joyously happy after that first night, it almost felt like it could have ended there. I know there had to be an angry part and had to wait it out.

I think I figured out what bothered me while writing this review. Was it just me or did it seem like the men in Jennifer's life had a tendency to steamroll over her, or at least try to? I don't know. It felt like something was missing in this book and I can't put my finger on it.

Stetson and Jennifer got their HEA, but they never seemed to really have a relationship to get them there. This was a struggle to finish. The premise seemed good and it started out decently. Then it fell apart. The last couple of chapters were decent.

Accounting for Love is a sweet attraction at first sight story. But the stereotype of a bank auditor being a bad guy to a farmer causes said farmer Stetson to fight the attraction. I liked these characters, Jennifer is truly a good honest person. Stetson may not be good with figures but is a really hardworking dedicated farmer. Their tale is touching, sometimes funny, and quite sexy.

Sweet love story where the city girl falls for the hot cowboy. There are lots of emotions in this book while we meet the brothers and learn of past heartbreaks. The chemistry sizzles and the sparks fly.

It was entertaining, although, for a series starter, it doesn't introduce many other characters... The MMC for the next book is mentioned once in the last chapter and once in the epilogue... Before that I didn't even knew he existed. The narrator does a good job with all the characters.
