“Stop punishing yourself for being someone with a heart. You cannot protect yourself from suffering. To live is to grieve. You are not protecting yourself by shutting yourself off from the world. You are limiting yourself.”

Leigh Bardugo truly has never let me down. Nikolai and Zoya were my favorite characters from Shadow and Bone, so I was so excited to read a book with them as main characters. It was also so fun to see some of the other characters from Shadow and Bone, especially Genya and David.

Very excited for the next one.

Not my favorite from the Grisha universe, but an awesome read nonetheless! I'll be not-so-patiently awaiting the next book.

Wowowowowow!! Will update the review when I have more time to process it.

Edit: Leigh Bardugo does it again!! While the shadow and bone trilogy was not my fav, KoS stepped UP to the challenge left by the SoC duology (aka being my favs and feeding my hyper obsession). I LOVE multiple POVs, seeing into the mind of each character. I feel like I get to know them!

Nina, I love being able to follow her story while she processes grief and embodies her post-jurda-parem power. Using the wisdom imparted to her by the one and only Kaz Brekker

not much happened for 1st 50% of the bk?? idk if there was supposed to be romance between nikolai and zoya bc i def did not feel any chemistry. little evidence behind newly added plot points, plus N and Z’s journey was not explained well. will be picking up again later!

This book was amazing. After reading shadow and bone trilogy then the six of crows dulogy I didn't think that this book could live up to it. But I definitely did. Worth the read! I can't wait to start the last one!

balls man. balls. I cannot survive without reading the rule of wolves so that's what i'm doing right now. Because the ending was UNEXPECTED. Plus my Zoyalai expectations were so high I thought we were gonna get loads of that but oh well, I was wrong yet again! But overall, because Nikolai is in here, I think theres no doubt i'm giving it a five. Besides that, the book was SO EXCITING to read I had LOTS AND LOTS OF FUN. In every chapter there's something interesting that was happening, AND BY THAT I MEAN- EVERY CHAPTER. Mostly in the chapters, when some stuff was blowing up, Leigh tends to add like a thing IN THE PAST that happened to a character that is significantly tragic. Example, there was a scene where in I think Zoya was talking to Nikolai and suddenly she thought of her aunt and then we ended up reading about her aunt (that died because of the darkling) So yes I hope you got that. OK ENOUGH WITH ZOYA AND NIKOLAI. About Nina and Hanne. I'm going insane. I don't know about you or what but I THINK IM THE ONLY ONE SEEING WHATS GOING ON BETWEEN THESE TWO. I SWEAR i need to see both of them in ROW having a waffle date. I'm very glad Nina has like found someone she could talk to. I'm also so glad Matthias isn't not in her head now because in that way, our beloved waffle queen won't be sad anymore. NINAHANNE shipper over here. And then lastly we have Isaak, I just have one thing to say to Isaak. Maybe two. RIP BROTHER YOU WERE AMAZING. But to be honest, how did you become a part of the military or something when you DON'T KNOW HOW TO SWIM. That part just- its WEIRD. You are a palace guard and you don't know how to swim? ANYWAY. Yes. He was so so funny like literally he falls in love with all the girls he encounter. He really did everything he could RIP BROTHER. Ok that's it. Read the book. This review is slightly unprofessional but oh well just read the book man ITS GREAT.
