I remember, but also I don't remember what happened in this book (does that make sense?), it's a bit like waking up from a fever dream I guess.

This was a good ending to an enticing series, and I thought it wrapped up everything just the way it needed to be. Which is good because literally everything unraveled. Just when a situation couldn't get worse for our two stubborn protagonists, another wrench would be thrown in the gears. But it worked. The drama was fairly believable, the tension was higher, and there were some losses that I didn't expect. To be honest, the entire plot took a bunch of turns I didn't see coming. On a whole, I kind of wish the book was longer. While I like action scenes and exploration and meeting new characters, I would have liked to spend more time seeing characters pick apart certain situations and would have liked to get to know some new characters better. But that's all minor nitpicking. On a whole, I did enjoy the book and watching Sepora and Tarik struggle to balance their emotions and kingdoms, all the while preventing a massive war. Definitely recommended for readers who like their romances to be packed with drama!

Ally picks up immediately where Nemesis ended. The Quiet Plague is crippling Theoria and Tarik is at a loss on how to stop it. Now engaged to wed Sepora, Tarik is struggling to rule his kingdom and deal with Sepora’s personality. Sepora’s world also comes crashing down when she is betrayed. Without giving away too many details, the action is nonstop throughout this book. Readers will be hanging on to see how Tarik and Sepora survive all that is thrown at them. I raced through the second half just to see how this book finished.

Even though I extremely love the characters in this duology, I feel like a lot of things within this story-line should've been developed more since there's a lot of awesome elements presents, which isn't being talked about much so that feels kind of superficial?

It felt like a bit too much of everything put within this one final book that might've been better off being written over the expanse of at least two books I think. There's so much more I've wanted to explore; the different kingdoms and their powers/magic and a lot of in-between-moments that I kind of missed I guess.

Overall, this second book, unfortunately, didn't completely live up to its expectations but that doesn't mean it wasn't an enjoyable read, because I still immensely enjoyed it. I'd still recommend this duology because the writing is so addictive, the characters are really lovable and I connected with them instantly back in book 1 and now again in this book and I really enjoyed the presence of these magic and Egyptian elements throughout the story-line.

Finished this fast paced (or rather crammed as there is fast turn of events) sequel on one sitting.

Everything is stuffed in the sequel, the author didn't split as much in the first book.
The world building is explained everywhere, the plot is streaming fast, and we even get plot twist! The romance though, it's like the first book is shy high school romance and this one is bold adult. I came here for the romance and it didn't dissapoints.

Although it's enjoyable, I do noticed some essential character didn't get much scene and depth, and the batte scene is not that intense (it could be more, since high fantasy about kingdom in war supposed to be fun in the war scenes). The fast turn of events in the plot make me feel the need for more explanation.

What done well here is the development of the main characters, Tarik and Sepora, Also Sethos the brother, Princess Tulle, and some minor characters are interesting enough. The writing makes me feel entertained, sad, hopeful, glee, even when I rolled my eyes in some parts. It's worth the binge reading though.

The conflict reminds me of Shades of Magic trilogy yet again (maybe it's because the lack of high fantasy about kingdom that I've cared to read) and do most books has to have that kind of storyline? Twisted rulers, battle between kingdom, a disease to overtake the kingdom, roaming madness, and in the midst of all comes the romance. Yeah that's the trope but I enjoyed it hehehe

I loved the first book (great beginning) and the romance in this one. The stakes are high and the plot was there but the resolution is so fast and weak, it happened in between chapters (where nobody can read it). Everything kept being resolved without being shown how it was resolved. The characters just woke up and boom, everything's okay and they've won. To clarify though: I do not dislike this book at all, I like it in fact. Just that I like it, but I know it lacked a lot of elements an ending should have. I am rating it 2.5-3 stars still, because I don't want it sitting with the other books I rated 2* that I didn't like at all.
