This is the second book in the Messenger series. And the way that I am currently doing reviews, there is a chance that I never reviewed the first one or that it will be posted after this, so for what it is worth- Sorry.
I know that sometimes the second book in a. series/trilogy is not as strong as the first book, but in this case I think the second book was a bit stronger than the first one. But there was also a message-y undertone with this one. While it's obvious because Melina always talks about it, she is struggling to accept who and what she is. Which for her sucks because everything is changing, her status quo has been disrupted and it doesn't seem to be stopping any time soon. But, she is not the only one who is struggling with what they are. Alex- the vampire- is also struggling.
This case is a bit easier to solve because Melina is more willing to call in her resources - her friends. And she is more willing to collaborate and brainstorm with them, much more so than she was in the first book. And while she does bring in a certain set of skill sets, all of her friends that she has surrounded herself with has something unique to offer. It is so much easier for them to see them as a team then it is for Melina to see it.
I really like Melina, she is sarcastic and capable. But what really brings the books together is her friends snf who yrhy all come together to solve whatever magical wonky mysteries that she finds herself in. I am definitely looking forward to the next - and final- book in the series.

I liked it but it didn't hold my attention. My mind kept wandering and I found myself skimming passages.

This was a solid follow-up to the first book. Melina's friends once again have her back, and I really enjoyed the story, their interactions, and Melina's personal growth. I especially hope to see more of Paul and Sophie in future books, and i really loved where Eileen took Alex's character in this one. I definitely plan on continuing with this series!

This is a series a came across by accident and dont see very many people who know about it. Hopefully people will see this and get on the Eileen Rendahl Messenger series band wagon. Book two DEAD ON DELIVERY picks up where DON'T KILL THE MESSENGER left off. Melina is still delivering packages and is now running the Dojo left to her by her late friend and mentor Mae, enjoying her relationship with her cop boyfriend Ted, her roommate Norah is freaking out after book 1 events and will hardly leave the apartment and her ER vampire Dr friend Alex is acting super weird and creepy.

The story is full of mystery, action, twists and turns. Eileen's characters are well developed and easy to like. They all grow a ton throughout the book. Melina has to really open herself up in DEAD ON DELIVERY and start revealing herself to the people she loves as well as accept that she is loved as well. There is a revelation at the end that I can not wait to find out the reaction of. This series is unique with great plots and Inventive situations that will suck you right in.

Melina has a few too many things going on, making the narrative a bit rushed. But overall a quick and entertaining read.

This is an entertaining if somewhat lightweight urban fantasy series which began with [b:Don't Kill The Messenger|6676768|Don't Kill The Messenger (Messenger, #1)|Eileen Rendahl|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1305086037s/6676768.jpg|6871871]. Melina is neither too kick-ass nor too helpless, and the supporting characters are fun. The boyfriend, Ted, is a particular favorite of mine.
