Despite being an avid reader I never write reviews however, I loved this book so much I felt I needed to gush a bit.

There aren't many book you know you'll love from the first page but A Kingdom of Exiles had me gripped right from the first page up until the last. I just struggled to put it down & when I did, found myself thinking about it constantly. I couldn't read it fast enough but at the same time didn't want to reach the end.

It has everything a girl needs- a strong stubborn heroine, sexy territorial Fae males, a slow burn romance, heartache & plenty of twists & action! I can't wait next book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5/5

This book was a reread for me, and it has so many of my favorite tropes:
✨Fae, humans and witches
✨Magic
✨Found family
✨Romance
✨Warrior training camp

The found family was absolutely my favorite part. Serena is likable as an FMC, but the unlikely friendships she forms with a diverse set of characters is what really got me hooked. There are just so many lovable and important side characters! The romance is not the main plot point, but there’s enough there to keep my romantasy loving heart happy. There are also hints at a love triangle, but it doesn’t really fully develop into one.

Overall I did like the pacing. This is a THICK fantasy book, so there are definitely some slower parts mixed in with the action. The ending was especially action packed and sets up book 2 really well.

I have also read book 2 and have very different thoughts on it (review to come), but I will be continuing on to book 3 so I still think this is a series worth starting!

Also THIS COVER!!!!!

So bad. Hated the main character, hated the sudden chemistry between her and Wilder, and just in general did not enjoy this one at all :/

More

Must have more!!! So good!! If you love Sarah J Maas you will love this book! There were a few Rocky parts but they were easily forgiven when thinking about the book as a whole. I forced myself to slow down my reading because I knew I would get to the end and be left hanging, I was right..

This book was really bad. DNF at page 93. If you like books where everything bad under the sun happens to the main character, then this is the book for you. I won’t read anything else by this author.

“Because as long as you keep breathing, there’s a chance that things will get better. That you can make them better."

I loved Serena's story.
Following her crazy story in the beginning, I honestly had no idea where we'd end up.

I really enjoyed seeing the glimpse into her former life, the reader gets an idea of how her growth throughout the book really changes her as a person. She's shy, afraid to stick up for herself, and really without any true family. Her 'adoptive family can only do so much, but when the town casts her out for being unusual, you can't help but hope she finds her people. And she does. The forging of relationships is one of my favorite things about this book, each person in her pack has such a different dynamic, and I can't wait to see how they all work together in the future.

The story kept surprising me, and anything that keeps me on my toes and makes me fall for more than one character has my heart. I mean, the males in this story are just swoon worthy, all of them in their own way!

Can't wait to start book 2 and find out what happens next!

Very similar to ACOTAR. Mary Sue main character. Problematic romantic tropes.
