I’m a little torn by this book. It didn’t feel like the end of a trilogy. It felt like the middle of a series to setup things to come. For future books, this is good, but for the trilogy, not so much.

The majority of it was boring, repetitive and a lot of hunting. But the parts that wasn’t about those things, I really loved and enjoyed. I got a little emotional and had physical reactions at parts. Also, I like the way Robin Hobb writes and even though a lot of this was slow and dragged, the parts I loved and the writing make it 4 stars.

What an absolute treasure this series is. Hobb's writing is unique in a way that I can't quite put my finger on, yet which is truly refreshing. It is fascinating to me how much GRRM, Rothfuss, Lawrence, and others of my favorite fantasy authors were clearly inspired by the rich fantasy set down in this unassuming trilogy.

I said in my last review that part of me wishes Fitz was a girl - and I still think that would be an improvement overall - but I was glad to see Hobb playing a little with cishet norms through the Fool, and I'd love to see that expanded upon in her later books.
