I will read anything remotely related to Pride & Prejudice or Jane Austen. While this book has a formidable “Lizzie”/EJ and “Darcy”/Will I most admired the other characters. The loving “Jane”/Jamie. The sexy-yet-cruel “Wickham”/Jordan. The family of Bennett women. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the beauty of weaving BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ into such a “white” classic tale. A well done adaptation/interpretation!

Not terrible but not my cup of tea really, either. It didn't have enough umph to make it exciting to read since I knew the basic plot.

This book is fun, but sadly, it wasn't enough for me.

The Bennet Women is a modern retelling of Austen's Pride and Prejudice and I loved searching and finding the similarities between the two stories. It's also a fresh take on this age-old classic, and it includes a huge cast of characters of colors and queer characters. However, I didn't "clicked" with them. Sure, they were nice characters but I didn't find myself rooting for them - maybe because I knew how the original story ended? Anyway, I also felt they were a lot of pot of views, some like EJ and Will were regular, other like Jamie were present from time to time. Then, sometimes, out of nowhere, we would have a new character's point of view, for like one or two chapters, then nothing else. I found that a bit odd, and it didn't help me to connect with them all - as soon as I started caring for someone, I was to read a new character's perspective, and at times, it was a bit too overwhelming.

But The Bennet Women is still a positive read, and if someone is looking for something fun and light-headed, then I would definitely recommend them The Bennet Women!

I enjoyed the book but I wish I read it instead of listening to the audiobook. I didn't love the narrator, and it made the characters and dialogue seem more juvenile
