I was expecting this to be good based on the cover and blurb and have been looking forward to reading it since it dropped, but sadly it was too cheesy for me, and not in a good way.

It almost read like a copy paste of some other Halloween novellas, except some of them did it better. My main problem here was the writing (didn't work for me at all) and how rushed everything was near the end.

Like
Nyx waiting 2 years and then immediately jumping into an engagement and moving in together and in the span of a few days
, what was that about? He went too far off the rails, and not just in regards to what I mentioned either, but for example
carving his initials into her during their proper first time together???
I would've checked out then, to be honest, but it's not a long book so I figured I might as well finish to see where it would go.

It tried to be dark and sweet at the same time and it just didn't work. I will however be checking out the author's Christmas novella which will hopefully be better.

Gurl, I don't know how to say this but let me say it anyway, "It's not me, it's you." Sorry, not sorry.

I don't understand how you did not see his obsession with you because it was there in front of you and yet, you proved to be the stupidest woman to ever cross the road. I am really surprised that you did not get hit. He stalked you. Had been obsessed with you. Killed two guys.

And yet, you would have continued to ignore it if it danced in front of you and did a striptease.

It is characters like this chick that make me try to stay far, far away from short stories but the premises always sound so promising and end up reeling me in only to disappoint.

Sweet Serial Killer?

This was... not for me. The focus seemed to be more on the murder than the rest and the psychopathic killer was portrayed and oddly sweet.

This was dark, fast paced and was way past morally grey!
I really enjoyed the couple and their darkness melting together into a beautiful relationship.
It had a quick plot that wrapped it into a nice and neat little bow of the creepy love ❤️

Oh my goodness.. I don’t know why I’m absolutely obsessed with masked men but this book made me realize I’m just like Avina. I’m obsessed with this novella and cannot wait for more!
