Finally finally finally finished this book!! I first started it 8 years ago, couldn’t get into it and stopped. Seven years ago I tried again, but was too busy with school and stopped. Now I have finally finished this book.
The plot was interesting and the writing was good, but perhaps tedious. Most of the characters were irritating but bearable.

I'm just a sucker for details, world-building, culture crafting, etc. and I enjoyed every bit of this thick chonker. It is such an immersive world and it made me care for literally everything and everyone and I want to know everything about the lore know. I will definitely read the second book

I can't stop re-reading this book, and the entire series, which is sort of absurd given its incredible length. There are weak points - phrases that become inextricably linked to the behavior of different characters, for instance. In general, I love the magic and the mythology and the different cultures in Jordan's world.

This was such a pleasure to read.
It was easy to see the parallels between this and Lord of the Rings, but that doesn't bother me too much.
Would've been nice if the action hadn't been packed into the last few chapters of the book, but it was still a fun read.

I just love this. Long, but easy to read, and even easier to get into. If you've been putting off this series, stop. Or... Start, rather. Give it at least 5 chapters, and the rest will feel like a show you can't stop binging.

At least twice I stood up while reading and verbalized to no one: "This story is so f**king cool!"

I don't know how many times I fist-pumped the air, screaming other fangirl sounds.

Endings and beginnings. I'm hooked. Carai an Caldazar! Carai an Ellisande!

It was a solid opening novel to Jordan's series and I enjoyed reading it. The story, however was a bit too close to TLOTR for me, so idk. I liked the main characters and especially the part where they were separated was great (Perrin best boi). The ending felt a bit short and anticlimactic.
It was kind of apparent that Jordan wanted to turn this into a major series, since there were a lot of worldbuilding things that were there and were only talked about briefly once or twice. You could see that he thought of the rules of this world before writing this book and that is pretty cool.
