“Those who say women can’t go far in this world are afraid of what the likes of you can do. That’s why you have to be careful and smart, because your enemies are more than you can count or see. Don’t look at this marriage as misery, look at it as an opportunity to stay in a position of power, even from the background. That’s the only way you can protect yourself and everyone you love.” ~Sergei Sokolov

What a fucking cliffhanger!

Tropes/Themes:
  • Arranged/forced marriage
  • Billionaire

I always love being introduced to new characters and learn their connections to previous characters I've already met. I was expecting Rai's connections at all. It was definitely an ahhhh.... moment once I realized

Enjoyed this duet. Love seeing strong women working within the mafia.
Read the Lies and Truth duet first unless you don't mind spoilers about that couple in this book.

Mafia books are my favorite, and this one was no different. There was so much action and nothing is predictable. I loved Kyle and Rai! Kyle made quite the impression from the start, and he is the perfect companion to Rai’s badassery. I can’t wait to see how their story ends! That cliffhanger was brutal; I’m glad I don’t have to wait to find out what happens next.

I really enjoyed this one, getting to see the stories of the parents and how they came to be, just feels a gap. The writing as a whole isn't the best but it doesn't affect the story or the characters. Watching the tension between the two characters grow is just enticing, and the way it ended🤨. Really excited to see where the rest of their story goes.
