I can’t think of the right words to explain the feeling of being uncomfortable in the most dark, delicious and unapologetic way! But most of the best books are very unapologetic! This book drops you deep into a plain of magic, misery and alpho-hole monsters.

This is not a safe book, it’s not even a HEA, it’s also a book that keeps you hooked and hostage as each page you turn locks you in in a fantasy filled delectable adventure of deception, betrayal, and gas lighting. Doesn’t sound good? Well you would be totally wrong! Mrs. Lawrie created an exquisite world filled with wicked corruption, plot twists that had me emotionally in a roller coaster, and a decent cliffhanger that just makes you dive right into book two!

Also if you are new to MJ Lawrie, and you think this book may be too dark for you, just try her Verity duology books! They are the chefs kiss!!!

This series is easily the best I have read this year! It ripped my heart out, have it back then ripped it out again! I read all 3 books which are over 500 pages in less than a week!!! This series needs more hype!!!

yoo... so much happened here can they catch a break đŸ˜« the hits just kept coming. if you like messy, flawed characters with a plot that has as many twists and turns as a soap opera, and the main character(s) going through every trauma imaginable, this is the book for you! (I'm not even saying that sarcastically btw, I know people like books with lots of mess and drama, but if you do not, this book is Not for you)

I never trusted Grayson I always knew he was batshit insane and his character annoyed / frustrated me soooo much.

Super dark and violent and every character is super aggressive pretty much all the time but somehow the drama and twists are so compelling that I was hooked. All that was missing was a bowl of popcorn!

I will say though the “he’s my brother!” twist was really silly bc the first thing I thought when I read the name “Bias” was “Huh that’s a weird name.. Bias. Oh like Tobias. Oh it’s Toby.” And then ages later it’s like a big reveal as if it wasn’t completely obvious. Also there’s no way to TW this without it being a major spoiler but I would’ve loved a TW for pregnancy loss.
