I just didn't get into this one as much as the first book. It felt like it dragged and I was getting tired of it.

We see some old faces who I would have prefered not to see again but other than that this book is OK. Just sadly wasn't as good as the first book.

Uprising was good, 3 1/2 ish. I am not in love with this series, but I would say that I am invested in how it all plays out. Several new additions to the crew in the underground bunker. Some of them are new, but quite a few familiar faces are back. The drama, mixed with the fear, and increasing danger, makes for a pretty tense situation.

A 3 star may even be too generous. I just don't know what I think of this one and I normally loves Shelly's books!

This book was hit or miss for me.

I liked getting to see from the different characters perspectives and I liked the climax at the end of the book.

But.... there was just too much filler. I spent a lot of time wondering when something was really going to happen.

And I was kind of annoyed with the little girl in the story. She sounds adorable but anytime a small child has lines in a book, it's just asking for disaster.

There were some plot holes as well.
The big one is that the author says it's been 2 years since the Lighters started coming to Earth (or 2 years since they'd been on the run?) and yet, nobody has aged...

Shelly Crane is a great storyteller, and this is a good story, she just needs to have it edited hard core.

I'm not sure if I'll read the rest of the series. I'm not going to buy the rest right away like I did with the Significance series, which also had some errors, but I could look past them.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: 5 stars -- Yeah, completely sucked in to this series... I think I know why people may have found it boring (or the first book or whatever)....it's b/c you actually get to read some happy time stuff...I LOVE that. It's not just conflict and craziness, but the occasional chapter of feel good love stuff. It was very satisfying.... Only thing that made me want to dock it a half star was the explanation for the loss of the light of the moon....that was terrible. Seriously. I don't know why it bothered me, but luckily it was only a tiny sub point on a page...it just stuck out. Was it just me?? OK, on to the 3rd -- woop woop!

REREAD: 4 stars -- I figured out that I am reading an old copy of the books, so I won't talk about any editing mistakes, since it wouldn't be accurate to the current available copy of the books. I really need to talk to Amazon about getting that fixed...grr. (besides which, it wasn't as bad as the first book. Still there, but more easily looked over)

So the loss of a star from the first read to this one was just that I found the characters could be a bit one dimensional or something....I'm not entirely sure what it is, but occasionally Sherry would get on my nerves. She was almost too good you know? I mean, I know that's her character, but it got to be a bit unbelievable at times. Maybe I'm just more cynical 4 years down the line??

But I LOVED that we got to see more POVs in this book, and I loved the developments with Cain and Lillian. I almost find them to be more interesting than Merrick and Sherry. There's a bit more grit to them or something.

And the obstacles and climaxes in this book! Hoowee!! It felt like I'd just started the book and we already had our first crazy encounter with Lighters and Markers, and then it just kept building in Part 1! Then we got a bit more of a break, but with some great developments, and then we got first the Cain/Billings/Lillian/Daniel craziness and then that ending!!! Definitely sucked in and just want to keep reading the rest of this series! I'm remembering more of why I was so enthralled in the first place, and even with my issues with characters I'm loving it!!

I enjoyed this sequel to Collide. There was drama, loss, new friends, and old ones brought in. Some of the questions you may have had in Collide are answered in Uprising. I think the book could have been a little shorter and still conveyed the story well. I liked that there was more drama in this installment. The first book seemed to be all lovey dovey and constant peace. Some characters in Uprising shake up that harmony, and I love it. I enjoyed seeing things play out in other characters' perspective. The other povs didn't read like a diary either. That was a problem I had in Collide with Merrick's viewpoint.

We get a little more information about the Lighters and the Taker. There are some developments that look to be very promising. I'm excited to see what this thrown together family is up against in Catalyst.

Wow, this one was even better than the first one. Again I can't give it as high of a star rating as Significance because that series drew me in a little more, but this was good. I love the new twists to the story that I never would have seen coming. Those are the ones that keep me coming back and now moving on to the next book. I have felt the loss of each character as deeply as the characters in the book have. Shelly definitely knows how to emotionally draw you into the world she creates. okay, enough from me...I need to go read more of the next book. :)
