Fantastic. Second work I've read from this author. He has an incredible ability to create dark, realistic and fantastical worlds.

Bright and imaginative. A zippy story never overwhelmed by fascinating world-building.

Great story, setting, characters in an alternate history set in New Orleans around the time of the Civil War. Appreciated the inclusion of the influence from African Traditional Religion & gods.

Another excellent snack from Clark. It's amazing how he can pack so much story, character, and history into a novella, while still being extremely readable and fun.

What a fun world, and fun characters - main characters who were all women! In not very many words, P. Djèlí Clark paints a very vivid picture of New Orleans and sets up the world so well. You can tell that Creeper, the main character and narrator, is a teenager, someone who is young but experienced and thinks she's more mature than she might be, which is also impressive.

Adventure/heist in an alt-history New Orleans, with voodoo-magic style embodied gods and power, teenagers eavesdropping on scheming bands of strangers in alleyways and swashbuckling captains of airships. Engaging characters though around halfway I felt a little disconnected in the plotting; solid conclusion though.
