Let me start by saying that I started and finished this book in the parking lot of my local book store in less than an hour and a half. While I've been a big fan of the series since I first read [b:The Selection|10507293|The Selection (The Selection, #1)|Kiera Cass|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1322103400s/10507293.jpg|15413183], I never felt this unfulfilled at the finish of a series. Overall it read as a mediocre fanfiction written by someone who wanted their underdog fave - who I did support while reading [b:The Heir|22918050|The Heir (The Selection, #4)|Kiera Cass|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1422993526s/22918050.jpg|42484814] - to end up with the main character. The entire plot seemed rushed, there was no true conflict, and there was little development in the relationships. I wish that the book had been at least twice as long to give more of an opportunity for the reader to connect with the characters again. There were a handful of cute moments, but I didn't get nearly as much satisfaction as I would have hoped at the end of a series.

This was a wonderful book. I wish it wasn't the end of The Selection. I want to know what happens to the kids.

I really enjoyed the entirety of the Selection series. I loved that Eadlyn didn't go for any of the selected. Even when reading The Heir I saw the subtle moments that hint at Eadlyn and him being endgame. I was going to be pissed if it had been Kiel because of his aspirations. The only real disappointment for me is the lack of action in this book. The Selection trilogy had rebels and stuff but I really thought Marid would do something big rather than an angry phone call. It makes it almost feel like there will be a third but it's doubtful. Overall I really love Cass' writing and her character work. I think this series is one I will read over and over again.

Eadlyn is a million times better in this book! It was like a breath of fresh air after reading the havoc that The Heir was. The romance with Eikko seemed to pop out of nowhere, or maybe I just wasn’t paying attention. Maxon in this book was perfectttt, just like in the rest of the series. Eadlyn was so impressive. I know I wouldn’t have been able to make half the decisions she made even if I was under NO pressure. That girl was born to be a queen.

3.5 rounded up. I really feel like this whole Selection P2 deal could’ve been 3 books like America’s story. A lot of book 2 felt rushed. Still, I loved the Elite boys a lot, and I adored Erik. Eadlyn was less frustrating than America was, and I was, overall, pretty happy with the way things ended. I still don’t think these are amazing books. They’re filled with cliches, but they’re fun.

i rated this book based on my enjoyment of the story and not on how good I thought the book was. But I loved it. I think this was mostly due to the fact that I read it as an audio book and the voice actress was sooo good that I actually started crying at the end. I definitely like Eadlyn's story a lot better than America's but that is just my opinion
