I did like the found family aspect of this book and especially enjoyed the sisterhood between Kacey and Livie, but that's it.
I LOVED The Simple Wild and was really looking forward to reading more of Tucker's work. But I'm even more bummed because there were no content warnings for this and the teaser TikToks made it see like a very different book.

Main Character/s
I didn’t understand what was happening with Kace but I know that she is very protective and caring for Livie. I felt sad just thinking about how everything that happened to her, first hand, she had to be with her aunt who doesn’t really care about them. I admire how she finally took the leap and left with Livie.
I really find Kace brave and strong with all that happened to her she would do everything just give Livie a life that she didn’t have when their parents passed. I love how selfless she is.
Trent. Trent was confusing. I cannot tell if what he is really to Kace but I know that she cares for him. When he suddenly disappeared, I felt what Kace felt towards him and to make things worst, he was one of the people that was involved in that day. But at the end of the day, he was just doing it for Kace and to make up for what he has done.
Side Character/s
The side characters, who I see as main characters because they made the entire story amazing and heartfelt. I really appreciate Storm and Mia, they have their own baggage but they welcomed Kace and Livie into their lives.
Livie is also such a lovely girl but that one scene in which she called their aunt was not a good call. But she’s amazing nonetheless and she really does care about Kace.
Then we have the employees who were so clear of not violating the employees and have always been there for Kace and Storm.
Overall Thoughts
I went into this book blind because it was recommended by a friend for my 12 books recommended by 12 friends. I pick it up because it was available on scribd as an audiobook. I have to say that this book is really heavy.
I was confused at first and didn’t understand what was happening at first but reading about the tragic event in Kace’s life made sense. I can see why Kace was so hard on herself, why she stops studying to make a living for her and her sister once they escaped their relatives. I also like how she worked in a bar that doesn’t let customers touch their dancers and that they have really strict owner and bouncers.
The fact that Trent was not who we think he is, I appreciate how he made Kace the happiest even if it would eventually bring her pain when she finds out about the truth. I thought that the book would end just when they learned the truth. But we got to see how Kace coped with the truth and how she accepted Trent eventually.
