This book was pretty enjoyable! Fast-paced, action-packed. Lots of twists and turns. I did, unfortunately, call the twist in like the first chapter, but I still enjoyed myself.

I will say the FMC is insanely frustrating and incredibly naive (most) times. She spends so much time trying to get away, only to flip everything halfway through the book. I also don’t love when narrators mislead their writers? No spoilers, but you’ll get this if you read it.

Not my favorite, but I sped through it and I like Riley’s stories regardless of his dumber FMC.

This is my third Riley Sager book that I tried. Sad to say I was dissapointed, again. The writting itself is good, and I always seem to really enjoy the first third of the book. This one really seemed promising and I was pumped to finish it. But, like all Sager endings the plot twists and turns are forced, off the map and plagued with enough tiny holes that the entirety of the story can't hold water. Still, I plan on giving the last book I own of Sagers a try. I see so much potential that I'm probably unwarranted in my hopefulness that there is a "right" Sager book out there for me, but I'm making one last ditch effort. I feel like a chick that excuses all the red flags and stays with the wrong guy. After this next one that is it though. I'm breaking up with Sager for good. I swear. Lol

i have to say, riley sager is really unparalleled at setting scenes. he makes such freaking amazing backdrops, such palpable horror backgrounds. every book of his really stands out because of where they ARE. the bartholomew hotel, camp nightingale, baneberry hall, they are places that feel so real by the end of the story that you can't believe they didn't exist before it - and this one, of course, has its own: the mountain oasis lodge. his books feel so cinematic because of that, because you can really picture and feel and get lost in the locations.

but *sigh* this one was his most predictable one yet. literally from the first chapter of the book, i started chanting: don't do it, don't do it, don't do it. but he did, and i am beyond disappointed about it. it's the boyfriend because it's always the boyfriend and it is legitimately the most obvious and cliche and BORING thing in the world. i wasn't super thrilled by the shift of it being marge but he brought me around on that through sheer good writing but he couldn't bring me back after it being robbie because it was so obviously fucking going to be robbie and i legit don't even think of this as a spoiler because if you've ever read or seen any horror, you were already bracing for it from page one and the saddest thing in the world is: you're right.

3.5 stars! I enjoyed this-I guessed one of the twists but not the other so that was a fun surprise. I feel like it could have been a short story…parts felt too long but overall it was a fun read.

Honestly unsure why I keep reading Riley Sager. This book was trying far too hard and had me hooked because I'm a film kid but left me so disappointed. And that ending?? What?

I love Riley Sager books so much. The premise is unbelievably intriguing as we’re told from the get-go Charlie is trapped in a car with a serial killer. The dark roads this story takes as the night grows longer will surprise readers as Charlie slowly figures things out and attempts to survive.

The structure of the book following a film with the chapter titles and “end credits” was so perfect for Charlie’s character. So much thought was put into the very aspect of this mystery/thriller—I can’t recommend reading a Sager enough.

MC annoys me. Don’t like the “movies in my head” description of her hallucinations(?). Cringey listening to her talk about movies
