Dylan just sounds like a solid dude. I'd be friends with him. The wounded and broken heroes have their time and place, but so do the heroes without a massive flaw or baggage. That's Dylan. It wasn't hard to root for him.
Sometimes characters like Zoe can really annoy me, but Ella Maise found just the right balance and I ended up liking her too.
There were some not so cheery parts of the story for sure (TW:
The end does get wrapped up kinda quickly and at a different pace than the rest of the book, but it was honestly all what I was expecting at that point so it felt fine. There was nothing surprising about this book (except maybe the aforementioned TW plot point), and that made the story work. You get what you expect and it was a good time.

i hated the miscommunication. another one of those overused tropes in romance books. I get that miscommunication happens a lot irl too but not in these kind of scenarios.
also, some themes (like the situation with kayla) could've been discussed so much more thoroughly. I'm sad it got overshadowed by the miscommunication.
the epilogue was cute but why do all sport romances that ive read end up with marriage and children??? I'd love one where they get married and don't have children

- Initially, I loved the chemistry between Zoe and Dylan. They got along well and seemed to have a good understanding of one another.
- Zoe's relationship with Mark was interesting to me. It gave the story an added layer of mystery and confusion.
- I loved Kayla and Jared as side characters! I thought they were fun, and I wish we got to explore more of their story throughout the novel.
- In the end, the book fell flat for me because it dragged on, and on, and on. Once the two main characters hooked up (the same day Zoe finds out her best friend got sexually assaulted, mind you), they didn't seem to be able to stop. Their communication became lacklustre and repetitive, going in circles continuously until the resolution at the end of the novel.
