Anthologies are always interesting to read because each story often varies in quality. Here were my basic ratings for each short story:

Never Have I Ever - 4 stars; I'm such a sucker for those little twists at the end and this story was certainly a good start. However, I wish there was a bit more foreshadowing.

Like Before - 3.5 stars; this story gave off a melancholy sort of feel but I wasn't truly hooked.

Old Rifts and Snowdrifts - 4.5 stars; super cute, romance is always fun to read. very light-hearted

Con Nights, Parallel Hearts - 3 stars; I've always been a huge fan of the concept of parallel universes, but this story didn't quite make its mark.

Kiss the Boy - 4.5 stars; adore two-sided pining, also pretty light-hearted and a fun read

Creature Capture - 4.75 stars; as someone with social anxiety, this definitely hit.

Shark Bait - 2 stars; the ending set me off and although the beginning and middle were good, I felt like the ending made it worse.

A Place to Start - 3.5 stars; this story didn't feel unique and didn't stick out.

When You Bring a Dog to Prom - 4 stars; love love love dogs and the prom night was cute.

Missing - 3 stars; not quite a fan of this one. Although I've been a fan of the author's previous books, I didn't enjoy this one. The paranormal element felt too much.

What About Your Friends - 4.25 stars; Stories with friendships and no romance have always had a spot in my heart and this was the same. Loved the reconnecting.

Under Our Masks - 3.75 stars; didn't enjoy this one too much. I enjoyed the superhero aspect and the romance, I just wasn't a fan of the writing.

The Ghost of Goon Creek - 4.75 stars; I really enjoyed this one, it ended well and both the friendships and the paranormal aspects went well together.

So, the average is 3.8.

This collection of short stories was a delight to read. There was a wide range of characters and types of stories. All the short stories center around the story happening in the span of a night. There are stories of romance, adventure, paranormal activities, and schemes. My favorite part of these stories is how much even one night can have on the rest of your life. Thank you, NetGalley for a copy of an eARc in exchange for an honest review.

Have you ever wanted to pull an all-nighter or wondered what hijinks can go on at night? The fabulous young adult authors of Up All Night: 13 Stories Between Sunset and Sunrise (edited by Laura Silverman) delve into the possibilities of the night. Set to be released on July 13th, this anthology is sure to suvk any reader into the mysteries of the night.

If you’re looking for quick little stories to add to your Summer TBR then this is the book for you!! These YA short stories are sure to hook you in from the beginning and will make you want to see just what kind of shenanigans you can take part in while pulling an all-nighter! I think my favorite story might have been either “Never Have I Ever” by Karen M. McManus or “Old Rifts and Snow Drifts” by Kayla Whaley, but all of the stories are varying degrees of amazing! On top of all of that, these stories are chock full of diverse characters and narrators!
Here’s my individual ratings of each story:

“Never Have I Ever” by Karen M. McManus- 5 stars
“Like Before” by Maurene Goo- 4 stars
“Old Rifts and Snow Drifts” by Kayla Whaley- 5 stars
“Con Nights, Parallel Hearts” by Marieke Nijkamp- 4 stars
“Kiss the Boy” by Amanda Joy- 4 stars
“Creature Capture” by Laura Silverman- 4 stars
“Shark Bait” by Tiffany D. Jackson- 3 stars
“A Place to Start” by Nina LaCour- 5 stars
“When You Bring a Dog to Prom” by Anna Meriano- 4 stars
“Missing” by Kathleen Glasgow- 3 stars
“What About Your Friends” by Brandy Colbert- 4 stars
“Under Our Masks” by Julian Winters- 5 stars
“The Ghosts of Goon Creek” by Francesca Zappia- 5 stars

If you have to add only one anthology to your TBR this summer, make it this one!

*I received an ARC from Algonquin Young Reader in exchange for my honest opinion.
