Pooh, Piglet, Owl, Eeyore, Kanga, and Roo are all waiting for you to join in on their adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood. Such is the stuff of Winnie-the-Pooh, a book of tales about the animals of the Hundred Acre Wood, and their human child friend, Christopher Robin. From Pooh and Piglet’s search for a Woozle, to the day Eeyore loses his tail and Pooh finds it in a most unexpected place, to Piglet’s encounter with a Heffalump, the Hundred Acre Wood is never lacking for fun and adventure. But this book is much more than a collection of tales about these animals’ adventures in the forest – there is truth and heart at the center of all that is written on these pages. Pooh may very well be a “Bear of Very Little Brain”, but he is wise beyond his years. His simplistic view of the world is refreshing and reminds us not to forget about the little things. The relationships between these characters are real and heart-felt - there is as much substance here as there is “fluff” (between Pooh’s ears that is!) Children will love these stories for the memorable and charming characters and their adventures in a seemingly idyllic world. This children’s classic is an essential purchase for all libraries.

This is a classic and an excellent book to read aloud to preschoolers. The chapters are a great length to read one a day (about 7-10 minutes each). The characters are familiar because of all of the Pooh picture books, movies, and TV shows. My boys enjoyed the few pictures interspersed throughout the book, especially the fact that Pooh is usually "naked" in them. I love Milne's clever writing style myself.

Update: they requested to reread this one. Still a favorite!

Sometimes you appreciate kids books more as adults. Also, I felt like reading but not starting a whole book or reading something dark. This was a good comfort book.
