Kate Beaton’s comics are iconic now thanks to several memes made from her panels. I’ve read a few of hers before, so I was excited to pick up this book.

Overall, each strip is very humorous and fun while also being *mostly* historically accurate. There were quite a few about Canadian history which were generally lost on me, but there was still good humor nonetheless. Since this book first came out in 2011, a few of the references are outdated. Regardless, I enjoyed reading this as a nice palate cleanser between dense books.

I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast read. As it is mainly dialogue and art, it is easy to keep up.

I've loved Beaton's stuff for forever, and I think I read all these cartoons originally online. It's fun to revisit them, because they're still as funny now as they were when they were originally published.
