I read it to twin 5 year olds that usually take 30 to 40 min to fall asleep and they were out within 5 min of the start of the story. it's not meant to be entertaining. it is boring. but it works.

I honestly can't say anything about the book or plot or writing itself...because that's how well it works for putting me to sleep!

This shit WORKS. No joke. For the millionth time, I took a resistant toddler and had her from 60 MPH to out like a light within 5 minutes of reading. Highly recommend. Been using it since about... 14 months old? Still working (and working better as her language improves, it seems) at almost 22 months.

This book is amazing! My 4 year old daughter and I have a routine of reading 3-4 books before bedtime and we both enjoy it very much. BUT.... never ever does she fall asleep as I'm reading AND afterwards there's usually about 1-2 hours of fear, bargaining, excuses, tears, back rubbing, hair rubbing, bathroom trips, thirst, hunger, and last but definitely not least utterly horrifying TANTRUMS (from both her and I) lol! I came upon this book at the library, having never heard about it previously. It is only now, after reading it to her tonight, that I am researching and reading reviews. I am completely blown away at how effective this book was at relaxing her into a beautiful, easily achieved slumber!

Yes, the over all story is boring. Yes, the construction of the sentences does read rather strangely. Yes, there is repetitious phrases. But the book does exactly what it says it will for these reasons.

My daughter started out asking questions and being a little bored through the first few pages. But, after calmly and quietly acknowledging her yet continuing to read the book she relaxed and was asleep with 3 pages left to read. I found that just as she would start to get annoyed by the repetitions, the story would then have a paragraph to get her attention again then once again start to soothe her. While we still had 3 pages left when she fell asleep, I did finish the story as the author suggests.

Probably better for kids than adults, as it can get a little bossy. The audiobook has both a female and male narration the male narration has multiple characters in different voices which makes it a little bit more lively and less relaxing. I prefer Nothing much happens the podcast,it's similar but more relaxing as there is no dialogue in most of the episodes.

There is background music, so if you change the speed, it does get a bit distorted.

I bought the e-Book and the audiobook versions. My 3 year old couldn't care less but my 7 year old, who is very difficult for me to get to sleep, requests the audiobook nightly and enjoys falling asleep to it. I'd recommend the audiobook because I find the book tedious for *me* to read out loud every night.

Edited: 1 month in and my 7 year old was asleep within 13 minutes for the audiobook.
