I loved this. I had to keep reminding myself that this was nonfiction because the way this was written and laid out and how every character had their narrator was brilliantly done. It read like fiction. There being an entire army of women in the mountains sounds like something you'd read about only in a novel, and for someone who is trying to become more interested in reading nonfiction regularly, this was a great way to start that journey. I was hooked on every word not just because of the content, but because of the style of writing, the language used, and the rotating narrators made it more engaging.

Sometimes, there are those non-fiction books that stick with me.  I can describe my life as pre- and post-reading the book, and this is one of those.  The writing style is so beautiful and accessible, and it feels like being engrossed in a novel that you can't put down.  It is honestly easy to forget at points that this is a true story, and once you remember, the weight of it hits you even harder.

This is a story that is so important and needs to be told.  First and foremost to honor the work and resilience and bravery of all the women in the story.  But also to celebrate the people of Iran and to learn more about this country beyond the conflict shown on the news.  Although there is great loss, there is so much joy and triumph in the book.
