Well, DOOM, Nazis, a sort of Josef Mengele character are given free rein at a facility on Mars. Aliens unimaginable creatures from another dimension, and a very depressing alternative world history – what a combination! If you're a fan of any of the above, strap yourself in; it looks as if it's going to be a HELL of a ride. I'm looking forward to the mishmash of these franchises. Let's hope it's going to be a bleeding exciting series.

As someone who never really reads science fiction, I wasn't sure this would be for me. I'm glad my apprehension was completely unfounded. Hell on Mars is the tale of the Perihelion crew who are sent to find out what happened when communications failed. Once they set foot on Mars, and get some electricity up and running, its fair to say that absolute hell breaks out.
I've seen this compared to other sci-fi stories like Doom or The Thing and while the comparisons are fair, I think it holds up in its own right. I loved the crew of Perihelion and and definitely looking forward seeing to what happens in the continuations.

Liked the premise, very obviously written by a man and I didn’t like how the female characters were written

Oh my god!!! Am I officially a Sci-fi horror fiction fan now?! Have I finally been swayed?! This was so good and I’m already psyched to jump into the second book! J.Z. Foster and Justin M. Woodward did an excellent job sending their audience on a thrilling and anxiety inducing ride through space.

We are basically introduced to a cargo crew sent on a rerouted rescue mission to Mars where it is suspected that the Mars Felicity Station has gone quiet due to unknown distress. But when the crew arrives on the red planet, they are completely unprepared for the threat of an alien plague and flesh hungry monsters.

So far, this story feels very reminiscent of sci-fi horror movie classics like Alien, The Thing, and Pandorum. Characters were believable, the danger felt real, my heart was drumming a thousand beats a minute, and I was left with a cliffhanger that made me want to flip a table! The Reality Bleed series is definitely one I will fly through easily and fans of sci-fi horror will devour HELL ON MARS.

(Special thanks to J.Z. Foster for sending me this copy for review! I am so pumped to jump into book two!)

Basically this book blends together the best parts of Doom, The Thing, Aliens, Event Horizon, Dead Space, and Stranger Things (all of which I love so much). Maybe I should knock off points for copying some, but I was just having too much FUN to care! Really though it manages to still stand alone as it’s own exciting entity, full of exhilarating action sequences, grotesque monsters, and great character development.

I love sci-if action/horror in general, but it’s that last point that really stood out to me (although these monsters are freaky!). I really appreciate how much I cared for this cast of characters. They felt fully realized, even the minor ones, and there’s some fantastic banter between them (the kind that can come across as cheesy in movies often, but here it’s done very well).

This book is the definition of a page-turner, and I tore through it in one sitting. Thankfully it’s just book one in a full series called Reality Bleed, and this dynamic duo of authors just released book five! Now excuse me while I stare anxiously into the void until I can read the next book.

Was confusing a bit throughout with some tiny details but other than that, it was an amazing book. The author, @jzfosterauthor kindly send me the first three books in the series Reality Bleed for an honest review. The only thing I found confusing was the characters names throughout because people would be called by either their first or last name and would never stick to just a first OR last name. So it took my brain a few milliseconds to process and figure out who they were either talking with or talking about. Overall I was amazed at this book and sooo appreciative to the author for sending me them! Can’t wait to continue to series!
