I don’t know how to put my feelings into words. First and foremost, let me make it clear that this isn’t a romance. Yes, there is a romance later in the book but it’s not the main and most important part of it.

This is a story about domestic violence. It’s an extremely hard read. Thank god for audible having the audiobook for this one. I don’t know if I could have physically read the brutality that Iris faces throughout the book.

I thought it was well done and such an important read. I’m really glad I read it.

This is an incredible read. It draws you in from the very first chapter. There are lovable characters and some that you’ll hate. The love story is endearing, however, it is heavy and dark at some points, so be cognizant of that going in. Please, protect your mental health.

This book probably should have come with a trigger warning because the DV scenes are pretty intense. That being said, Kennedy Ryan's writing is enthralling, whether she's depicting traumatic events or crafting steamy scenes. Her storytelling is truly captivating. The Skyland series will undoubtedly my favorite, but I’m definitely into to continuing with this Hoops series.

I wasn’t expecting this book to be what it was. I went in blind and I’m so glad I did. Kennedy Ryan is that girl with the writing. Cannot wait to read more of her masterpieces!
