WHAT. IN. THE. FUCK. WAS. THAT?
This book gave me literary blue balls.
Sara Ney, what happened to you? Why do you hate your readers?
This was the most unsatisfying and lazy book I have read in a long while.
I’m not going to waste my time outlining this fucktastic plot and that shittastic ending. There are several really detailed reviews on why this book sucks already in existence.
Suffice it to say I want my money back, and I read this through KU so I want the value of the 6 hours it took me to read this back.
Here are the bullet points that I will NOT be elaborating on.
1. This guy was the worst depiction of an English person I have yet to read.
2. This book was boring until the 75% mark and then it was dizzying.
3. The ending was shite. Barely a hfn.
4. Sex scenes were shite, none of the smut was written to completion and Ney ftb on all orgasms.
5. So the ending, did I mention it was shite? Basically she ends up with him because she has nowhere else to go. She doesn’t decide to be with him, she literally ENDS UP with him.

That’s it.
I took a long break from Ms Ney after Hard Luck because all of her new stuff was disappointing. I saw these Jock Hards were back on KU so I thought, let’s pick up where I left off and see if there is any improvement......
Nope. Just nope. I’m sorry Sara, but we are breaking up for good. You don’t respect me enough to write a decent ending to fulfill me. That’s the unwritten contract between romance writers and readers. We need an HEA and we need satisfaction. You’ve broken your contract therefore we are over.

Ashley and Georgia's story was such a fun read.

The banter, tension, and chemistry between the two were addictive.

Much like the other books in the Jock series, there were laughs and - for lack of a better term - a lightness to the book. Throw in a pinch of drama, some alcohol, and a wiiiiiild night in Vegas and you have an amazing read that will keep you up to the wee hours reading.

I really liked that there was room for more of their story and I hope that someday we might get a bonus novella.

I could not put this book down until I devoured every inch of it (lol), but seriously it was so good I re read it several times. It starts with Georgia transferring schools for her scholarship and her teammates are hazing her to pick an ugly guy and ask on a date. What she doesn’t expect is to find Ashley who at the time looked rough just fresh from a rugby match and he knows what she is up to and calls her out on it. Georgia is a sweetheart, a southern beauty that is smart yet kind, she knows she screwed up and wants to make things right, but Ashley does not make things easy for her. Even though she feels awful and tries to make things better she refuses to be his doormat and then they form a friendship of sorts, become roommates, while both fight the attraction, they have for each other. Ashley is the perfect British gentleman while Georgia is the perfect Southern belle and together, they may look like they don’t mesh but you can’t fight fate. I wasn’t a fan of how her parents were towards the end of the book and treated her but was so happy with how she knew in her hear what to do. This book was pure sports romance perfection, and I loved every bit of it!!!

This trip back into Jock Row was a cute one! Sara Ney brings us to the Rugby side of the Athletics Department with her latest installment, Jock Royal, which follows the hilariously comedic opposites attract story of Georgia, a girl who is forced to switch schools in her senior year due to her scholarship being pulled, and Ashley, a son of a British Lord. When a hazing stunt goes sideways at the start of the year, Georgia finds herself on a mission to gain forgiveness from the big surly Rugby player she offended and Ashley (said Rugby player) is on a mission to be himself outside of his family's title and duty.

You ever read a book where you didn't mind it but know without a doubt that if you keep thinking back on it, you'll realize you had beef with a lot more than you thought initially? Well that is where I am standing with this one. My initial reaction after finishing this was "well that was cute--a tad annoying at times but cute." But after reflecting more on the story and looking back on my bookmarks I realized I had more "annoyed" reactions than "love this/this is cute!" reactions--if that makes any sense.

I loved Georgia and her persistence to make the most out of a sucky situation. A standard Ney heroine, Georgia didn't hold back any of the sass (nor the sweetness) and whit when it came to Ashley. I liked these two together, their mutual stubbornness and feisty banter were probably my favorite parts of the entire novel. I loved watching these two go back and forth and just be themselves.  This was super (and I mean super) light on the angst which was nice after reading back to back drama filled novels.

What I didn't really care for and what probably annoyed me the most was the constant reminder of how Ashley was British. It was fine during the beginning as we were getting to know the characters and their back story--but after a while, I honestly started skimming over the sentences and paragraphs that went over his being from a different country because it came up so frequently. Some of the verbiage Ashley used made absolutely no sense in the grand scheme of what he was trying to say nor did it reflect the place he claimed he was from; making it feel like his vernacular was thrown in to sound more authentic rather than being something natural.

With the annoying bits aside, Jock Royal was a cute story. As an opposite attract, Vegas surprise wedding kind of romcom--it was pretty chill! Sara Ney definitely delivered in the comedic department as she always does and her signature whit and sassy one liners were on full display with this book. If you are looking for something quick to read and if you don't mind "Hallmark" like British Heroes, I definitely say give this one a go!

My Favorite Jock Hard Boy!

I absolutely loved this book, I devoured it in a day. I love Sara Ney, her douchebag series is one of my favorites of all time, but the Jock Hard series hasn’t captivated me as much…until now! Ashley and Georgia were amazing and I could not put them down. I loved all the twists and turns that their story had and I didn’t want it to end.

Ash and Georgia started off as “enemies” well not really because she didn’t think he was the ugly and he was offended that she chose him for the dare. I thought that once they moved in together, their relationship was rushed (maybe it’s just because i’m a sucker for slow burn romances). I mean it’s only fitting that they got married in Vegas because they joked about being fake fiancee’s. I like that this book had more drama in the first chapters than any other book so far in the series. I think that the series overall is pretty cute and I am enjoying reading about the couples. I just wish that the books had more to them and I wish that the characters were interconnected through each book.

Sara Ney’s strength is definitely the meet cutes! How Ash and Georgie meet. It’s adorable and hilarious. After their first, uncomfortable encounter they find themselves not only in class together but also a group. Georige puts her southern charm on, but it is no match for this grumpy Brit! Both college athletes and finishing up their last year both Georgie and Ashley (Ash) are focusing on school, having zero time for relationships. Once Georige moves into Ash’s house, because what college senior wants to live in the dorms? Once settled the pair fall into an easy friendship.
I will be honest, my feelings for Georgie ebbed and flowed throughout the book! There were times where I adored her and some where I was like, girl what are you doing! But in the end this girl won my heart over. I feel like this characters grew a lot and found exactly what she was needing, but where she least expected it.
Ashley (Ash), sweet sweet Ash! I knew his gruff grumpiness was not real. But his proper Britishness was a definite highlight for me! This guy has a lot of pressure on him, that so many around him don’t see. I can totally understand his need to attend school in the State and live a “normal” college experience. But also, the relationship he has with his mum warms my heart. He and his family surprised me in the best way possible.
Together Ash and Georgie are quite the pair….if they could just get out their own way and go with the flow! But I guess characters never listen and they need to learn for themselves, ha! For real these two are adorable and so perfect for each other. They seem to click and completely understand the other. And they are always down for hanging out on the couch watching the telly.
In true Ney fashion I was laughing throughout the book, like serious belly laughing! If you are looking for some fun, great characters with a lot of heart, a new twist on a trope, and a grumpy-sunshine duo then this is the book for you! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the series! If you have not read them you DEFINITELY should! (These books are fantastic, but also stellar audiobooks if that is your jam!)

Sara Ney is always a must read for me, and this book was no different. This book is available in KU, and is book #4 in the Jock Hard series).

I loved Ash and Georgie! This was such a fun book and I highly recommend it for fans of romcoms and low angst romance.
