dark emotional funny tense medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? No
  • Loveable characters? Yes
  • Diverse cast of characters? Yes
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

the way i ate this book up!

whatever i expected, it def wasn't this (and i mean in a good way). the first book wasn't the best i've ever read, but i decided to give it a chance anyway because i loved both the main characters and then some.

lorenzo is open hearted, despite being all that badass and grumpy, he's not indifferent to how he feels. i love how he acknowledges his shortcomings and actually SHOWS how he feels instead of just saying words. i have newfound respect for Morgan, where i expected her to break, she didn't. she stepped up and did what she wanted throughout the duet.

Spoileridk how i feel about lorenzo offing kassian's brother btw, i mean i understood his reasons why he wanted all loops tied but still, he looked like a decent enough guy.

the writing was a bit messy because i still don't know what lorenzo does for a living

Wow. What a ride that was. I loved how fast paced the whole book was, how Lorenzo was still ridiculously witty and funny, and how strong Morgan was for the entirety of the book.

I loved the duet but I missed a little more of romance. But other than that, it was in point, slow burn, funny and dark.
