⚠️First, I need to tell you that this book does have trigger warnings and I implore you to read them. This book is DARK!⚠️

Holy shit! I didn’t know what to expect when I read this book but it did NOT disappoint.

This is Michaella’s debut book and fuck me sideways, she knocked it out of the park! I love dark romance and this book checked off everyone of my boxes ✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️

If you love dark, taboo, MM/MFM/MMF, and stalkers

Deliciously dark but needs work

In the note at the end, the author thanks a few other authors like KA Knight, C. Wondrak, and L. Savage, and after reading that I could definitely see the influence of those authors in this story. This certainly went all-in with the dark romance subgenre—it’s spicy, it’s bloody, it’s heartbreaking, it’s most certainly taboo—and I loved that it wasn’t ashamed to own it all.

Unfortunately, however, the writing wasn’t quite up to par and it left me feeling like, “Yeah okay, I’ve seen this trope a million times before.” Many times I really just wanted to roll my eyes at the characters.

Perhaps the biggest issue for me was the pacing though. Some scenes that I was really interested in was glossed over very quickly, and in some cases, the rushed pace undermined the effect that the scene was supposed to have. Like the Unseen reveal—it was so underwhelming.

I was also really disappointed in how easy the ménage fell together. Didn’t feel believable at all and there was never any internal conflict between them which again, feels so unrealistic.

On the plus side though, the steam was steamy. It’s a nice mix of emotions in there too which always helps, and I really appreciate the beginning note about this merely mimicking kink play.

TLDR; super spicy, indulgently dark, but definitely could have used better pacing and edits to the writing style

This book started out really good and I was invested in the story until I wasn't anymore and it happened pretty fast.

The sex scenes were beyond cringey the further I got & this had nothing to do with the fact that it's a taboo storyline. For instance:

" I straddle Eric & grasping his pork sword, I lower myself onto it..."

"Nate! My heat-seeking moisture missle just wants to play! Come back!"

"Fuck stick. Danger noodle. Disco stick. Flesh rod. Lap rocket. Love muscle. Meat popsicle."

"My one-eyed wonder weasel is getting lonely"

"Don't you glower at me, Mister Monster Cock."

"My jizz sprinkler is harder than granite."

It continues on in this manner, between two grown men and a woman supposedly role playing. Gag. It just felt so immature and this is exactly where I tapped out.

I absolutely loved this book!
It took me a couple days to digest what I read, I had to let it simmer and percolate and settle in my mind. There is a lot going on this story.
Was it dark?

This book was absolutely bonkers.

Btw if you're into some steamy taboo why choose horror erotica this is a must read.

Please read the trigger warnings, this is heavy.

It was an absolute roller-coaster, graphic, and the vengeance was absolutely satisfying.

And um those plot twists? What the heck? I didn't see them coming form a mile away.

I also discovered a variety of names for what a dick can be called. That was silly and cringe, but it was the only time the characters ever had a "childhood".

It lost a star because of the ending. It was a bit too conveniently wrapped up with the HEA. But still an amazing book and a must read!

This book had everything I had been craving. It has all the dark and twisted feels that speak to my dark soul. I loved every second of it. Adding RH into a twisted story, and you f’ing won my soul.

Thank you @Michaella for writing this and bringing it into the world.

Phew this book is dark! I was a little taken back by it when I first started reading it, but everything comes together so perfectly and you don’t ever want to stop reading it. Lots of trauma and revenge, but also fun and love! Such a great book for a debut novel! Absolutely impressed!

This book was very good, but please make sure you check the triggers as this book is very dark. I loved the development from when they were young through now and how they love each other despite their demons.
