Absolutely beautiful. Suzanne Collins is a literary genius, and The Hunger Games should be considered modern classics.

Great plot and suspense. Some plot points seem too convenient, but it doesn’t take away from the story too much

this one is by far the best in the trilogy. excels at everything, from storytelling to katniss’ growth and acceptance of her being a symbol to the revolution. it also captures how a society can be manipulated and subdued with different tactics and tortures.

This book was definitely better than the movie - providing more detail and background about the characters and plot. The storyline remains riveting without, leaving you wanting to know what happens next. Learning more about Haymitch and gathering new history/context about Panem is a nice addition.

In my trek to reread all these books before the new one comes out, I have to admit, I had fond memories of catching fire. It was, in fact, my favorite movie of the adaptations, and on a reread, it still hits just as good. In many ways, it’s better than the first novel, but I think the timelessness of the first book beats this one out for me. Still, there is very little wrong with this book, with my only issue being the pacing in certain chapters. Even then, Collins’ sharp writing style and great characters make up for it. The love triangle is unironically interesting in this book, which I never thought I would say. Overall, great follow up.
