Haylie recommended. Quick, witty, and cute.

I did not like this book.

I didn't mind the transcript parts because you could still feel the emotion when they spoke, but I HATED the texting for the same reason I don't like texting irl. The conversations felt stilted and most of it is just them bickering. The writing overall isn't bad but I found it a little bland. Apparently, the author is a scriptwriter, which could be a reason.

The gimmick of Bob drawing instead of just saying it was pretty cute though.

I was getting increasingly bored, especially once they started texting. I skipped about 50 pages, most of which were the question portions, and didn't feel like I missed anything significant in terms of their relationship development or the plot. This book is short of 300 pages long. That is a bad sign.

The characters also felt pretty flat and one-dimensional. I did however appreciate Hildy's slight character development. It is hard to accept that everything's not as perfect as you think it is, when you have spent your whole life trying to be and convincing yourself that it is.

TLDR; An interesting concept but lackluster execution. I think this would have been a nice movie, but it does not work well as a book.

Fun book based on an interesting concept. I liked the story but I was annoyed with the characters many times and the situations them put themselves in, so I didn’t love it. I still had a good time reading it, though.

Natural progression, witty dialogue, and authentic characters. A book I can appreciate. Not amazing but enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book. I have heard about the 36 questions as a psychology experiment and was intrigued to read a novel based on these questions. The story was light but enjoyable, the characters interesting and the pace good. It is probably aimed more at the teen market, given the ages of the two main characters, so I would recommend it to the young adult in your life.
