The Right Move (Windy City Series Book 2) (Reread)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️

"Blue 💙"

“Sometimes the quietest love is the loudest.”

.....................................................

Again this was a reread, and again this book was just as good the second time around! Along with the rest of the series, I believe The Right Move ranks as one of my favorite romances of all-time! I doubt this review can do the book justice, but I'm sure gonna give it a go to convince you all to read it if you haven't.

Liz Tomforde works her magic with The Right Move. This story, the pacing, the plot and character development is perfection. I did not want to put the book down, and I've read it before!! Plus, fake dating and forced proximity, are there better tropes???

Ryan Shay, and yes, we must say Ryan Shay everytime, and Indy Ivers are two of my favorite MC's that I've ever read. I'm a sucker for a good nickname and I love that Ryan has one for Indy 💙, even before they develop feelings. Though he is closed off, grumpy, and organzied, I love that Indy and her chaotic, colorful self worms her way into his life. This is opposites attract in the best way! Their relationship is goals 😍. I love their story and it will live with me forever.

I also love that this book has hearing impared and American Sign Language representation.

  • Sports Romance
  • Fake Dating
  • Forced Proximity (oh my god they were roommates)
  • Grumpy x Sunshine
  • One Bed Trope

This was a little bit hard to rate because I felt like it should have ended at the 80% mark. The final conflict made sense because it was something the main characters needed to discuss but it felt dragged out.

I also think that the author needs to trust her readers more. You don’t need to explain your metaphor. We get it. You also don’t need to tell us multiple times that Ryan gets fouled a lot without it being called because of his size and lack of championships. We can remember that information and it makes the writing redundant.

I did really enjoy a lot of this book which makes rating it so hard! It has tropes that I love. I really like the two main characters even if Indy did annoy me a bit at the end. The spice was really good and tense towards the beginning but even that was a little boring by the end. Basically, if it had been about 20% shorted it would have probably been 4.5 stars but it was dragged out to the point that my overall enjoyment was severely lessened.

4.75

i definitely loved this more than mile high

it was all the great parts about any romance novel tied up neatly in a pretty lil bow

the epilogue was one of the best I've read in any romance book
which involves a child... the fact that they also adopted was such a precious ending for me because in real life it isn't always the "oh my my the fmc miraculously got pregnant despite her fertility issues of the past!! wowza it must be out male mc's magic dick that cured her!!!" which is in SO many books & is extremely annoying to me

4.75 / 5 stars

reasons why it isn't a 5/5 for me:
  • the amount of tropes are extremely on the face, it felt like I was being spoonfed it all... would've definitely preferred some subtlety on that aspect
  • this is on me (not the author!!!) , but Indy constantly thinking about kids was slightly giving me the ick
  • 3rd act conflict was making me eyeroll because it felt forced
  • come on man NAVY??? SERIOUSLY ???

conclusion : Ryan Shay is The Best book boyfriend period 🧎🏻‍♀️
