I generally like Koontz books. Been a fan since reading his Odd Thomas series. This isn't the best of his books but it's not the worst either. Personally I liked the twist at the end call me out on it but possessions and fights between angels and demons are tops for me . There was good lead up and I'm a sucker for getting into the mind of a sadist villian. Weirdly I felt a sense of (waves hand vaguely) preachiness to this book though. I'd consider this a popcorn read.

I LOVE Koontz. I have grown up with them. But for me this one just seemed to miss the mark for what normally makes his book great. It was still good. But nowhere near his best.

Didn't enjoy this as much as other Koontz' I've read - overlong and a little slower than others. I also don't like it when horror gets so explicitly Christian at the end (looking at you, Imaginary Friend).

I enjoyed the general plot and chain of events, but the writing style was a bit too cliche and telly for me. Throughout the book, Koontz tells us exactly what each character’s personality is and exactly how each character is feeling with minimal physical descriptions or clues through which readers might be able to draw their own conclusions about the character. Because of this, I found it difficult to relate to the characters on a believable, human level.
