This novel is so hard to rate ! As for every Anna-Marie McLemore's book, their writing was absolutely exquisite, passionate and powerful.

Anna-Marie McLemore has done it again. They have blown me out of the water with their beautiful writing and intricate stories. This is their best book yet!

This book expertly weaves two stories together. In 1518, a fever has ravaged Strasbourg and is causing people to dance in the street until they fall dead. Lavinina, a Romani girl, and Allifar, a boy given a girls name at birth, are immediately put under suspicion by the church. Meanwhile, in the present day, Rosella puts on a pair of red shoes that her grandparents created and takes to the street dancing. The only hope she has is in Emil, a boy who knows more about La Fievre de la Danse than Rosella.

Honestly, the concept alone made me read this book. I fell in love with the characters and the writing as soon as I jumped into it. At first the characters felt a little young even after growing up, but eventually they developed and grew in my heart. The love stories woven into these two time periods was so beautiful too! I honestly have no complaints!

If you haven't read one of Anna-Marie McLemore's books, start with this one! They truly created a masterpiece here!

This had beautiful writing. It just didn’t work for me. I feel bad giving all these YA books low ratings, but I think it’s just a sign that I need a break from YA books or to stop reading them unless it’s by authors I know or it gains a lot of hype in the sense it transcends age group
