Daisy Jones and the Six…. For the Manson family. It followed true events a little too closely, making it feel very predictable.

I didn’t have much expectations for this book, I did see that a lot of people rated this quite highly. I personally felt like I had to finish the book, so I could see what the hype was about. I liked that the book explores power, desire and the complexities of girlhood. I just did not like the main character, the secondary characters felt more interesting and complex. Evie gave off the privileged rich girl that wants to be rebellious yet could not face the music at the end. Her obsession to Suzanne and her willingness to give herself to Suzanne without question troubles me. The lack of common sense made me want to throw the book to a wall.

I liked this book in the beginning but then it just kind of turned into an off -brand Charles Manson story? If you haven’t read Helter skelter or was born in the 2000s you might like it ?

Good book but I wish it had been marketed more as a coming of age type that happens to involve a cult. I think some of the cult stuff could have gone a bit deeper and I would have liked to have seen a bit more of Russell and how he manipulates people.
