DAY OFF

So , full Disclaimer: i just wanted to read the Jim Butcher Short story . From Dresden files , titled "DAY OFF" . But since there's no individual tracking from this short story on this site  means i have had to review and rate this whole book , comprising many short stories of fantasy and horror from other famed authors and series, which I ihave shortly not yet read .

But getting to it , Day off ! Was a fun story , a short story where no calamitous , earth shattering event takes place in the world of Harry Dresden for once . Instead we see Harry get to have a Day Off . And he's awfully excited about it . Which means the author is all set to throw cold ice water on his hot dreams of a vacation and so he does by means of troubled friends , imbecile newbies trying to appear as Harry's nemesis and ofcourse a nube apprentice .

Overall, it was all kinds of fun but had a lot of unnecessary gratuitous nudity . I am also reducing another half a star for I haven't actually read all the other stories

I read Day Off because it was part of the Dresden Files.

Harry struggles to take a day off. Werewolves with psychic fleas and Molly blowed shit up on the lab are but two obstacles stopping him. Kinda reminds me of a supernatural Clerk's.

This book was a toss-up for me, because half of the stories I loved and the other half I thought were complete wastes of time. It so happened that the first story (from my favorite author Kelley Armstrong) The Ungrateful Dead and the stories at the end were beyond my favorite.

Although True Blood is my absolute favorite show, Charlaine Harris disappointed me with An Evening with Al Gore. This because most of the story was building up to 2 pages of actual action. Dear Prudence I also found was extremely boring. I found myself skimming the pages so I could be done with that story.

The Sound of Blunder I thought was extremely inventive and creative.

I think this book is good to get a different feel of different authors and their style of reading. But being almost purely a supernatural reader, some of the stories are quite boring.

I only read the Jim Butcher story "Day Off" so far. It's a riot: a good funny short story.

Some of these stories had me LOL-ing, some were amusing, and others fell flat.

Hell in a Handbasket, to funny!

Great anthology. I enjoyed all the stories. The funniest was Mr. Bear by Joe R. Lansdale. It was just so wrong. LOL Hell in a Handbasket by Lucien Soulban was hilarious too. Another funny one was High Kicks and Misdemeanors by Lucien Soulban. And yet another funny was Bitches of the Night by Nancy Kilpatrick. My favorite was Day Off by Jim Butcher but I am a bit biased to Harry Dresden.

I forgot until I read this book how short a short story actually is. I am so used to reading these books that have three authors and three stories (each story being in the 100 page range) that I forgot how FUN three page to 20 page stories can be. It's also a great way to wet your palet on an author you were not real sure about.

This collection was quite fun and hardly any clunkers in the bunch. Perfect book for a short attention span or when you only have a little time here and there to read.

The short story was a tad disappointing. I didn't come away from the book with any gain on the characters or the storyline for the bigger picture in that world.
