When a young girl is found alive, in a suitcase outside the FBI’s headquarters, agent Abby Kane finds herself involved in a mystery that feels somehow too personal to let go. She doesn’t normally investigate live victims but “Suitcase Girl” is an enigma. Scared, with obvious memory loss, and unwilling to speak, there’s no telling what has happened to her or what was supposed to have. Was she meant to be killed and survived? Who is she and where did she come from? Is she some sort of message? And why is the first thing everyone notices about her how much she resembles Abby?

There are a lot of questions to answer in this taut procedural thriller, which kept me turning the page. I went into this book with zero expectations as I got it as my free Kindle First read for the month and was pleasantly surprised. I hadn’t heard of this title or author before, but will read more by Ty Hutchison in the future.

Well-paced, well-researched, and a sharply-written, original procedural, “Suitcase Girl” offers lot of twists and surprises. My only real complaint is the ending. I re-read the last two chapters, twice, and I feel like something was lost in the rush to conclusion. Will I read the second in the series for clarification? Eventually, probably. Do I enjoy having to get another book to finish something started in a first in series novel? Nope. “Suitcase Girl” is a five-star read downgraded for a two-star cliffhanger ending. Recommended for folks who read series novels as opposed to standalones.

The fact that there was NO ending really annoyed me. The book and plot was okay, the writing was a bit awkward at times but not a big issue. The ending could barely be considered a cliffhanger, it just ends. There’s no answers, no clearing up of what even exactly happened during the last major scene (SPOILER: the bbq). Won’t be getting the second or third book. It’s not a DNF, but wish there was some more clarity offered rather than just an abrupt end

Didn’t expect much - was expecting this to be the bog standard crime thriller - I was wrong.

I’m super intrigued for book two now!

Government experiments, murders, secrets, a little bit scary and a little unknown, this has it all.

Can’t wait to see more of Abby and Abby!

Unlike other readers, I didn't feel cheated. This particular mystery tied up nicely and ended with an arc to the next book in the series. I enjoyed the characters, especially the Kane family dynamic. I was intrigued, but not enough to continue on since I'm already overwhelmed with my to-read list.

Brand new to me author and hits it out of the park with this story. An awesome DNA, missing girl, thriller. And it's not finished. Loved these characters and I can't wait to see where the author goes with it.

This is one of those annoying books that doesn't actually end, it just... stops. It doesn't explain anything. It might as well be a prequel to the main event... just a three hundred page one. It also doesn't seem to know where to place itself - in some ways it's a crime thriller, in other ways it is venturing into science fiction. Now, I have nothing against science fiction, but it just didn't seem to fit here. It rang false and seemed out of place.

Whilst there's an interesting premise here, I don't think I will bother reading the rest of the trilogy for several reasons. First, I don't like feeling short-changed, and that's what this book did to me. It finishes and you turn the page expecting and... there's nothing there. If your narrative takes you more than one book, you need a good editor. If you are writing a trilogy, you need three individual narratives that tie together. This novel definitely doesn't manage that. Certainly the end of this one is virtually the in-breath to the beginning of the second and I'm not willing to play.

Secondly, the science fiction elements and full on shoot out aspects didn't work for me individually, let alone together. The author seemed to have missed a key sensor on realism here, and there were just too many moments where I was sat wondering what the hell this guy was smoking. Think James Bond, crank it up a few steps and add in some random DNA stuff that isn't quite cloning but probably isn't far off... in fact, it's probably even more advanced than cloning and we haven't even got that right yet with humans. Finally, this seemed to be trying to do too many things at the same time. It's trying to be action-adventure, psychological thriller and science fiction and the author just hasn't managed to combine the three properly. Instead it feels clumsy and I couldn't hold my suspension of disbelief... and my suspension of disbelief factor is pretty damn high. This just killed it.
