The first several chapters were very entertaining and the story held a lot of promise. Just shy of the halfway point, I lost interest. I was hoping for a lot more action and less dialogue, more intrigue and far less flirtation.

Interesting
I enjoyed this book of spies and those they are determined to stop. However, am not keen on books that leave unanswered questions. It left me with two of them. Annoying. Apart from that, a good read.

Amaziingg :)
Soo I now binged the whole series as far as it exists (hopefully we will hear Miss Colette's story... and this is not the end...)
I really loved this series... I usally tend to read more the classical regency romance books but I couldnt stop reading here. I loved Laura Beers writing style which was amazing, I loved how she was able to wave the spy story and the romance story elements together and create one , no several facinating books. I also adored all the side characters which we could mostly revisit in later books (where they were the main leads) and which all were absolutely incredibly well developped... You could really feel the different vibes of the characters flowing off the pages. I also loved the bromance which developped as the series got along...
This book Saving Shadow was Incredible in setting the start for everyting... It set the scene keeps you on your toes because there are verry many new characters you are meeting already, and is an adorable lovestory... :) though i was kinda annoyed with Benedict for not giving Eliza enough credit, and thats something he somehow couldnt make up to me...

Clean romance, but too much insta-love for me.
But if you are looking for a light, quick, weekend read, this is a decent tale of adventure.
Lots of spy work between England and France (they are at war) with a sub-plot of human trafficking.

I enjoyed this book! It combines two of my favorite genres: regency and suspense. I liked how Eliza uses her memory throughout her missions; I would love to be able to remember things like she does, because I have problems even remembering my grocery list!
The banter between Eliza and her brother was really fun to read; I also enjoyed seeing Benedict and Eliza together once they fell in love. I did think they fell in love a little too quickly, but at the same time it made sense that they cared for each other quickly because of the unique circumstances. Since they are both spies, I’m sure it was hard to find someone they could trust, and who would accept them for who they were. So once they found that person, it makes sense that they would probably fall quickly in love.
While there were a few parts of the book that were a little slow, I enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion*

I love Regency books. Add spies and danger and I’m all in. I enjoyed Saving Shadow because of it’s unique premise: a female spy who needs saving. I actually didn’t read the blurb when I agreed to read this. I didn’t want anything to be given away and I’m so glad I didn’t.
I felt intrigue from the first page and it only continued as I continued to read. Eliza had such an unusual childhood and one that has its heartbreaking moments. However, it shaped her into the woman (and spy) she became. What interested me the most about this book was trying to figure out how they would stop that bad guy. The who dunnit part completely caught me off guard.
The romance seemed like a given but Ms. Beers did weave in conflict and mistrust (on Eliza’s part) pretty well. I would have liked a little slow burn before the fireworks between them ensued.
All in all, it was an entertaining read and I look forward to book 2.
