Sad and sweet. And a little bit gay, considering we’ve got canonically queer character in Etta Candy, Cheetah, and Wonder Woman herself. Plus probably the majority of the Amazons.

It’s the Wonder Woman origin for the Rebirth era and it’s my favorite one.

I didn’t want to like this book. No, I wanted to hate it because who needs ANOTHER origin story for this character? I thought, this has been done to death. I only got it because I wanted to have all the Rebirth collected editions to date and continue picking it up in trades as it is published. I read it though because I knew I wanted to do this week, so I went in very skeptically. I was like “this is going to be horrible” and I am shocked. It wasn’t horrible. It was better than I thought it would be. This is because Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott created just the right touches for this storyline. There are so many elements I can talk about, so lets start…

Much better than volume 1, which just felt jumbled.

But like a strong 3 three-star. There's nothing within this graphic novel that I disliked and quite a bit that I enjoyed. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything that I really loved either.

This is the first superhero comic I've read, and it was a great introduction to the genre! I recently saw the new Wonder Woman movie, and I assumed that this would tell the same story - I was wrong about that (the comic takes place in the modern day, instead of World War I), but it was still a great story! With Diana and Barbara Ann, there are two strong, developed female characters in this volume, with many more (Etta and all the Amazons) on the sidelines.

My main complaints are that there were some sections that flipped too quickly between different speakers and scenes, which made it a bit confusing, and the fight scenes were nowhere as developed as they were in the movie. But still, a strong 4 stars! And Diana is gorgeous in this rendition. Now I have to figure out what to read next in this unfamiliar genre...

Hm niby komiks o genezie ale jakis taki mało przejrzysty.
Pewnie fajny retelling originu dla ludzi, ktorzy znaja troche Diane, ale imo kiepskie na kompletny start.
