Well, in the second book of Maz Evans series we find out that it is not only QEII that has an interesting skill set, the rest of the royal family has certain aptitudes and attitudes. Nice to know that everyone enjoys a good BBQ.

We follow Elliot in his quest for the rest of the Chaos Stones, but he has more than just Thanatos to deal with, Nyx the mother of Thanatos and Hypnos has decided it is time to intervene and she is a whole level more dangerous than anything Elliot and friends have faced before.

We also find out more about Elliot’s dad and the circumstances that have led him not to be around and this is one of the saddest parts of this instalment.

Elliot is joined by the usual gods and constellations in this adventure, but there are more heroic characters being explored throughout.

Neighbours and smelly History teachers are still around but with a devious twist.

Another emotional rollercoaster of an adventure with lots of humour and great characters.

Another fun yet poignant instalment in the Who Let The God's Out series.
This one follows directly on from book 1 as Elliott is living with his ailing mother and the God's. A letter arrives from his dad and turns everything upside. Oh, an he has to try to find the air stone before the evil ones can.
I laughed aloud many times during this one, but the storyline with Elliotts mum is still really hard to listen to. One for older middle grade.

Another dose of the Greek Gods in the modern world, brilliantly funny.

Following almost directly on from 'Who Let the Gods Out', this needs to be read in sequence really to make sense of both plot and characters. I would guess that almost any reader of Maz Evan's first will want to continue reading about Elliott and his immortal friends.

Elliott's mum still has dementia, he is still trying to collect some immortal talismen, the Gods are still living on their farm, and he still has an enemy in daemon Thanatos. Virgo, now mortal is trying to win back her place among the Gods.

That's a brief summary of where the story begins. It takes in an absolutely stonking scene with the Royal Family, a tour of the Greek myths and characters, a teaming up of two of Elliott's 'enemies' from the first book, both out to get him.

It moves along very promptly, with lots of quick saves as Elliott and Virgo find themselves in scrapes. There's also some pathos and heart, as Elliott's mum's dementia is seen in all its painful daily routines.

I just love Maz Evans' sense of humour, it's sometimes toilet-based, breezy and chatty, and made me smile. Some very silly villainry, but just perfect for the age group.

A great way to become familiar with Greek mythology, and an affecting story with Elliott and his family, some revelations in this story that leave you wanting to read the next instalment.

A great read for 9-13 year olds, but read the first book before starting this.

Hilariously funny, action packed, and incredibly touching at the same time. This *might* be even better than the first. The stakes are higher, the jokes made me snort tea laughing and Elliot and his mum's relationship is beautifully done.
