Interesting look at the relationship between mind, body, soul.

This was an okay book. Nothing to write home about. The idea was good, it was well written and well structured but I found it a bit bland.

There were some questionable lines as well - the age of the book really shows at times!

This was a great read, full of interesting ideas. I thought I had the ending figured out (particularly the identity of Smith), but it surprised me. I really enjoyed seeing how this book clearly influenced Futurama. The most obvious element in Futurama is the suicide booth, but there is also the colony of outcasts in the sewers of New York, as well as the predominantly Chinese colonists on Mars. Despite its connections to Futurama and generally humorous tone, however, this book isn’t really a parody, but an interesting a thought-provoking science fiction story in its own right. Highly recommended.

The story of a man, who is killed in an automobile accident in 1958, snatched up by a giant corporation, and transported 150 years into a future in which scientists have discovered the secret of immortality. His mind has been separated and placed into a new body as part of the company’s marketing campaign, but as the plans for the campaign are discarded, his new body is to be harvested yet again and given to a rich and ageing businessman. At its best, when considering the philosophical questions of who and what we are, but slightly tiresome when trying to be funny.

Unique take on a dystopian future while still using familiar themes and tropes
