This is a really fun series. I read it when I was younger, but can still go back and enjoy it. I own the SFBC omnibus edition.

One of my first forays into fantasy as a child. It opened my eyes to the humor in small things and opened wide the doors of my imagination.

Fun. Just pure fun. Takes everything you loved about fairy tales and Disney movies and pokes brilliant, gentle fun at it.

Fractured fairy tales are either love or hate for me, and this one was just LOVELY, as well as often very funny.

I really enjoyed the first book, but started feeling the jokes were reused and the story became thin as it went into the second and third books. The fourth book caught my attention again and finished well.

I suspect some of my issue is while I enjoy humor at times, I still like there to be difficulty for the characters. In these books their troubles seemed trivial with a quick spell solving everything.

These books are sorely underrated in the fantasy genre! They are really a delight, and have stayed with me through my teen years and to my adult life. I love them so much. They are wickedly funny and smart, and I adore them.

Light-hearted, funny, full of twists and turns, very original. Another childhood classic. I love it.
