Trite spin on common self-help themes. Took ages to get through it, and I honestly wish I hadn’t bothered.

I was curious what one of the top ranked self help books was like. In short: you can do it if you really want to do it, do you want to do it?
The book was anemic on any real content and full of fluffy “here’s a good kick in the butt” talk. While I love a good pep talk, this shouldn’t be so popular.
Good marketing with the title is probably behind it.

There is something about a Scottish man giving me guidance that is both motivating and calming (I listened to the audiobook). While not everything is new or groundbreaking, I liked his clear cut explanation. This was a short and sweet read with some great pointers/reminders (I hate when books are redundant so they can be longer). As someone who is always in her head (intensified by the isolation from the pandemic), the “you are not your thoughts” section was the reminder I needed. But, the other sections were relatable too.

Not life changing or inspiring. I almost stopped reading part way but it was okay
