A diverse collection of short stories that really explore various women's experiences, relatable even when shocking, she is an exciting new voice and I will happily read more.

I really enjoyed this collection, each story felt unique but still cohesive as a whole. the themes of each story related well with the others and left me contemplating the ways I wished or thought the characters stories would continue on. a lot of focus on motherhood, womanhood, growing up and family connections

The things we remember, the things we forget, a father’s lessons, a mother’s worry, letting go, losing, what we owe each other — all set in the Florida heat. The stories in this collection surround friendship, race, miscarriage, infidelity, cancer, class, family fracture, generational trauma, coming of age, and the true darkness of human experience. Each chapter packs a punch on its own and builds into something complete and unforgettable. Muniz writes with such urgency that the reader can feel that these stories demanded to be told. A stunning debut I will remember for a long time.

Exceptional stories. I'm fascinated with these women and their experiences. I have precious little good to say about this year or the previous two but wow did I set myself up with some amazing reads so far this January.
