I love the faith-inspiring tales of trusting God for provision and protection, along with the example of Christian unity in adversity.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
I admit, part of my 'doubts' how to rate this book will lie in it being 50 years old - which is noticeable in how it's written. Another part will lie in me being Dutch, and reading an English text all littered with Dutch names (and sometimes words) is quite strange to my head. I'm used to much to reading either Dutch or English, I believe.
That doesn't mean I do not like the book at all! It is very interesting to read how a very normal Dutch boy becomes soldier in Indonesia (and how he does not make their behaviour there better than it was, although politics do not have a real place in this book), his doubts and fears, his not knowing what to do with his life, and how everything seemed to fall into place.
This book tells a very honest story of a missionary. He was not perfect, and did not claim to be perfect either. This is not a book for the people who get the jibbers of anything very Christian, but it is great for those who want to read about 'real people'.

Title: God’s Smuggler
Author: Brother Andrew
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
GENRE: Christian, non-fiction, autobiography
📚SUMMARY & THOUGHTS📚
In this autobiography, Andrew shares about his upbringing in a small town in the Netherlands, and joining the Army seeking adventure when he becomes an adult. He weaves together humorous stories with tragedy while explaining his rejection of faith and the God his mother told him about.
Until, everything changes. Faith ignited; he sets out as a traveling missionary behind the Iron Curtain. He visits the persecuted churches in multiple countries, smuggles Bibles to the believers, and encourages them by reminding them that they may feel isolated but they are not forgotten by the international church.
📚JOYS📚
I enjoyed so many aspects of this book. His conversion, his passion to ensure access to Scripture, his faith in God to provide for his needs, His trust in God’s protection every time he crosses a border with a car filled with banned Bibles. The miraculous stories of provision and protection were convicting and inspiring.
📚CHALLENGES📚
Some topics mentioned during the book might be challenging but I thought they were all discussed through a lens that was Biblical.
📚TOPIC & LANGUAGE CONSIDERATIONS📚
War, sickness, abuse of animals, murder, death, persecution, some sexual content in the form of dirty jokes.

A história é legal, mas o início foi meio devagar e não é muito meu estilo de livro.

A truly amazing story of one man following Christ whole-heartedly. This wasn’t a fast page turner for me, but it was a very inspiring story.
